Oregon Motocross Portland International Raceway Lacey Shows Up and Rules By JUSTIN WHARTON PORTLAND, OR, JULY 7 M.UVlW,M.. M 205 aking a surprise shoWing at PIR was 5upercross regular Tiger l4cey. Competing on a CRF450, Lacey showed why he's considered one of the fastest riders in the Pacific Northwest. In the first combined 125cc Intermediate, 250c( Intermediate and 250cc Pro moto, l4cey, Rory Sullivan, Mike Horban, Don Bisceglia and Anthony Cerruti led the rest of the pack in the rush into the first corner. Lacey was on fire and clicked off the laps until he took the win. Following Lacey over the finish line were Cerruti, Sullivan, Bisceglia and Horban. l4cey once again looked good in the second moto, but this time it was Horban who ended up with the win. After a poor first moto, Horban bounced back with a vengeance. Lacey took second, followed by Sullivan, Bisceglia and Cerruti. The One Eighty Decals-backed l4cey (1-2) took the overall win in the 250cc Pro class, Horban (5-1) took second, Sullivan (3-3) was third, Cerruti (2-5) was fourth, and Bisceglia (4-4) took fifth. Winning the 250cc Intermediate portion was Joey Lancaster (I-I). while Zach Holbrook (2-2) took second. Nic Wolfer (2-1) won the 125cc Intermediate class, followed by Jason Gilcrease (1-2), Sean Ekerson (3-3), Tom Torresdial (5-4) and Justin Wharton (4-DNS). The Over The Hill Intermediate class has been getting progressively competitive as of late, and beating the best of them was Yamaha· mounted Tim Halas, who had to fend off advances from Ted Holt and John Foeckler in both motos but was still able to win both motos to take the overall victory. Holt (2-2) finished second overall, while longtime Suzuki rider Foeckler (3-3) garnered third on his new Honda. Keith DiBrino (5-4) was fourth, and Tim Meissner (4-6) rounded out the top fIVe.
