Californian Racing Club Dunestown Series Round 3: Los Angeles County Raceway PHOTO BY GREG ROBERTSON Irs Lamay All the Way! Bv GREG ROBERTSON PALMDAlI!, CA, MAY 22 A merkan Suzuki/Troy Lee Designs/Spy/FMF-backed Ben I""\t.amay cleaned up at round three of the 28th annual running of the California Racing Club/Riders' Choice Performance-backed Dunestown Series. The Anchorage, Alaska, resident put in an excellent set of second motos to earn overall w;ns in the Schoolboy, 2SOcc Four-Stroke, 12Scc and 2SOcc Intermediate classes. Lamay shot out to an early lead in the first Schoolboy moto, with Tye Hames using an inside move after a lap to steal away the top spot. Hames went on to win the moto on his 661/Simpson/Bill's-backed RM250F, with Lamay keeping him honest. Kevin Wageman fought off Tanner Langham for third on the final circuit. Hames and lamay went at it over the lead for most of mota two, with Lamay finally making a pass stick just prior to the white flag to go 2·1 and capture the overall win, over Hames. Wageman held down third up until the final lap, when he pulled off with bike problems. Langham came up through the pack for a close fourth and fourth overall, behind Matt Dowen (5-3). Hames was untouchable in the first 125cc Intermediate contest, going wire to wire for the win. lamay gated midpack, but by lap three he was up into second; however, he ran out of time in an attempt to catch Hames. Ryan Penhall turned his good start into a third-place finish, ahead of Wageman and Brian Bebeck. It was all Lamay in moto two, as he quicldy made his way to the front and proceeded to put a 10-second cushion between himself and runner-up Hames at the checkers. Penhall finished at Hames' rear fender for a close third and third overall, with Bebeck (S-4) and Jason Parsons (7-5) fourth and fifth overall, respectively. Sean Bailey stayed just out of Penhall's grasp to earn the opening 250cc Intermediate mota victory. Lamay sliced his way from dead last on the opening lap to finish in third, ahead of Langham and Dustin Turner. Lamay got around '3 fast-starting Anatol Kozlowski by lap two of mota two to win the moto and edge out Penhall (2-2) and Bailey (1-4) for the overall. It was clear sailing for Lamay in both 250cc Four-Stroke motos, as he distanced himself from the field both times out. Penhall flew his Team Green-backed KXF to a pair of runner~up finishes, followed by Langham (4-3), Derek Despain (3-5) and Bebeck (5-4), Kevin Weisbruch was perfect in the 85cc (12-13) class, going I-I aboard his FMF/FoxITag-sponsored KX8S for the win. Chris Carrillo battled with Weisbruch for his second-place finish in moto one, and then returned to hash it out with Colby Raha for the same results in moto two. Raha (5-3) got the better of Garrett Eckman (3-5) for third overall. Parker Eckman just plain outran his competition in both Supermini motas. Eckman gated near the front of the pack in both races and walked away uncontested. Johnny jelderda and Chris Plouffe mixed it up over second, with jelderda (3-2) prevailing over Plouffe (2-3). Connor Penhall (4-4) was fourth, over Jacob Stiver (5-6). eN los ANGELlS COUNTY RACEWAV PAlMDALE, CAUFORNIA IbSULTS: MAv 22, 2005 (ROUND 5/P/W (...): I. Gceg 3) E. Couto (KTM); 5.
