"It's an off-road rider's highest honor to represent the United States in the ISDE," said Douglas Neubauer, director of AHA Sports. "The AHA congratulates every rider who earned a place on Team USA, and we wish Team USA well as it competes against the world's best." The ISDE, often called "the Olympics of motorcycling," gathers the world's best offroad riders to challenge some of the world's most difficult terrain. KTM's Kurt Caselli will head the U.S. Trophy team at this year's ISDE. Jimmy jarrett, on the Andrews Cycle Suzuki RM250, took top honors at the Black Bear 100, the fifth round of the Parts Unlimited Off-Road Motorcycle and ATV Nationai (OHA) in Arkansaw, Wisconsin, on July 10. Jarrett dominated the race, held at Arkansaw Cycle Park, taking the lead from Justin Williamson on the first lap and running off with the win to extend his series points lead yet again. Williamson, aboard a Yamaha, challenged jarrett in the early stages but eventually lost sight of the flying Jarrett and ended up finishing I minute, 35 seconds behind the Suzuki rider. Finishing on the podium in third was KTM rider Christopher Bach. Rounding out the top five were Gas Gas riders Kyle Nelson and Dylan Debel. KTM rider Shane Watts did not compete, electing to stay home with his wife who is expecting their first child. Mike Demaree MJ and the MotoGP Boys Michael Jordan held court at the Red Bull U.S. GP at Laguna Seca, the basketball legend staying secluded with friends up in a roped-off portion of the first-class Red Bull hospitality area. But he also visited the pits, where he was photographed with the American MotoGP riders: (from left) Colin Edwards, Nicky Hayden, Kenny Roberts Jr. and John Hopkins. Jordan, by the way, is the tall guy in the middle. 2005·06 Regional and National Arenacross Series Schedules Announced Clear Channel Entertainment's Motor Sports division has announced the 2005-06 AMA-sanctioned Regional and National Arenacross Series schedule. The AMA National Arenacross Series will kick off in Albany, New York, with the series finale returning to Denver, Colorado, at Denver Coliseum for the first time since 200 I. The AMA Regional Arenacross finale concludes in Green Bay, Wisconsin, at the Resch Center. A revised race platform will be implemented in 2005-06 with a winner-take-all format patterned after the THQ AMA Supercross Series. The new format will modernize the sport and make it easier for riders to compete for an AMA National Championship, according to Clear Channel, and racers will no longer have to compete in two classes to earn the championship. "The 2005-2006 AHA Regional and National Arenacross Series schedule is the best it has been in years," said Todd Jendro, senior director of motorcycle properties, Clear Channel EntertainmentMotor Sports. "This year we will bring ..enacross back to some classic venues that have hosted legendary arenacross races in years past, such as the Denver Coliseum. The series will also stop at the traditional venues that have been successful tour stops for years, including Pepsi Arena [Albany, New York]; Wells Fargo Arena [Des Moines, Iowa]; Lazy E Arena [Guthrie, Oklahoma]; Metro Centre [Rockford, Illinois]. ':Additionally, our schedule for the AHA National Arenacross Series is coordinated with the THQ AHA Supercross Series so that the National Arenacross tour will wrap up before the start of the 125cc Eastern Region THQ AMA Supercross Series." Once again the AHA National Arenacross Series will continue to be shown on Speed Channel, according to Clear Channel. 14 JULY 20, 2005 • CYCLE NEWS "The National Arenacross Series is a good fit for Speed that fills a gap during a time of year when there is a dearth of first-run motorcycle events," said Robert Ecker, Speed Channel VP of programming. "We are pleased to once again offer this exciting series as a two~wheel winter fix for our viewers." The AMA Regional and National Arenacross Series will also continue to run the Amateur class during their Sunday events to ultimately bring the top Amateur riders to the U.S. Open for the Amateur Arenacross World Finals. Each of the six regions will qualify the top three riders in each class to compete at the Amateur Arenacross World Finals, which will take place at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena on October 9. The finals, which run in conjunction with the U.S. Open, will determine a World Amateur Arenacross Champion in each of the IB arenacross classes.
