Happenings in Motorcycling

It all started with a little contest in 2Wheel Tuner magazine: "Show us a
picture reading our magazine in an unusual place," the contest stated. The
magazine received entries from all over the United States; then, about
two weeks after the contest ended, photos from U.S. soldiers in Iraq
started to arrive, so rather than disqualify those entries, 2Wheel Tuner
approached Scorpion Sports to help out. Together, they set up a separate contest just for those entries and gave away a helmet, T-shirt and
autographed poster of Dr. Nikki Sloan to each of the five winners.
"Over the last few months, we have received a great deal of positive feedback on 2Wheel Tuner from the troops overseas, and as we
appreciate them protecting us, it seemed natural to do a little something
for them in return," said Dave Sonsky, editor of 2Wheel Tuner magazine.
"Scorpion Sports recognized what a huge morale boost a gesture like this
would be for the guys who are stuck thousands of miles from home and
was happy to help out."
"We want to show our appreciation for their support by giving them
the opportunity to trade their combat helmets for riding helmets when
they return stateside for that first ride on their sportbikes," added Eric
Anderson of Scorpion Sports.
The reaction from the winners was awesome:
"This will be a perfect pitch to the missus as an excuse to
get a matching new ZX-6RR when I get home.
YEEEAAAHH! Please tell your staff you have our most
sincere thanks for the support. It is our pleasure defending your right to ride," Sgt. Christopher Rawlins said.
Rawlins also asked for posters and T-shirts for his 40man troop, because he "didn't feel right leaving them
out" - and 2Wheel Tuner was happy to comply!
Dr. Nikki Sloan.
