Briefly...
Great news for the Motocross of Nations
set for Ernee, France, September 24-25.
The American team has asked for 35
rooms to be booked for their team. With
the possible inclusion of Ricky Carmichael
in the event, plus rumors saying that
Chad Reed, David Vuillemin and Mike
Brown are also interested in coming, the
biggest race of the year is taking shape.
Saturday at the Grand Prix of France
proved to be an interesting affair with
some drama. Antonio Calroll was
excluded from the Grand Prix for kicking fellow rider Davide Guarneri. The
Italian, who leads the MX2 championship
points, will possibly lose SO points on his
rivals in the Grand Prix. Cairoli came
together with Guarneri on the opening
lap of their qualifying race. Cairoli then
kicked Guarneri twice. Cairoli was asked
to come to the jury room, where he was
shown a video of his actions and was then
excluded from the weekend.
In the MX I, Mickael Pichon continues to
struggle with a knee injury. "It is hard to
explain, [but) 1am still having problems with
my knee," Pichon said, "and I need to have
another surgery on my inside ligament. I
was expected to do it last Monday, but I
was sad to miss the des Nations. It is in
France, close to my house, and on next
Monday I will do a small operation, and following that, take a few weeks off. I will not
do the big operation until after the des
Nations."
Australian Andrew McFarlane is looking at
heading to America in 2006. The Yamaha
rider leads the World MX2 series points and
can't wait to start his Supercross career in
America. "I want to go to America, and yes,
if a good offer comes up, I am open to all
options," McFarlane said. "If I am happy with
the bike and team, then I will talk to them.
The interest Crom America is just starting to
happen. I am speaking with teams over
there; if something happens, then great, I
would take that challenge with pleasure."
