Hyde, Aaron Kopp and Russell Bobbitt, and Kawasaki rider Travis Green. Six-time ISDE participant Hyde, who rode his first IS DE in 1982, said, "I think the club did an excellent job here giving us a variety of tests that put emphasis on test times. We had plenty of time to get from check to check, and that probably worked to my advantage. "I don't have any aspirations of going to Six Days this year," Hyde said "I just wanted to come here and ride. Qualifiers are always fun events. 1decided to run LOI [letter of intent] just to be up front where the action is." Hyde won the Senior class. "We try hard to put on an event that best reflects what a rider would encounter at Six Days," said Kevin Brown, the trail boss for this year's event. "We don't have a lot of resources to have ISO-mile days, but we do have a mix of single-track, two-track and back roads to give the riders a feel of what Six Days is like." The course covered 75 miles and had three grass tracks and one terrain test. Fifteen-time ISDE participant Fred Hoess, now riding a Gas Gas, finished eighth overall and won the E I (125cc twostroke and 250cc four-stroke) class with a score of 1906. "I have to give them credit: The club did a good job putting on a European-style event," Hoess said. "I've ridden Six Days that are just like this." eN (Left) Gas Gas rider Fred Hoess was oH the pace of the front-runners. He still finished a respectable eighth.
