Reliability Enduro Series A signup error on Jimmy Jarrett's part officially left him off the list to qualify for this year's Six Days. Jarrett mistakenly thought he had signed a letter of intent (LOI) stating that he was trying to qualify for this year's ISDE. The LOI tells the AMA that a rider is officially trying to qualify for the Six Days. "When I told them at signup that I wanted to sign up in the LOI class, they gave me a pre-entry form, and I filled it out and turned it in," Jarrett said. "I thought that was it. It wasn't until after the race that I learned that I hadn't signed a LOt" jarrett's fate was actually decided by the AMA:s ISDE Board of Directors, which let Jarrett on the U.S. Man With a Mission Trophy team under special circumstances. The AMA will be officially announcing this year's U.S. ISDE Trophy (six riders) and Junior Trophy (four riders that are 23 years old or younger), and the three-rider Club teams as soon as next week. When he finished the event, it was mission accomplished, as the 2B-year-old had won six of the qualifier's eight special tests, giving him a score of IB22 - 26 seconds better than John Barber's score of IB4B. Jarrett, on the Andrews Cycle/Moosebacked RM250, said, "I'd really like an opportunity to ride on the U.S. Trophy Team again. Last year, I was given a G 60 JULY 6,2005 • CYCLE NEWS chance my rookie year, and I kind of disappointed myself. I got off to a slow start, and it took me all week to get back on gold. Coming here, I just wanted to pick up where I left off. "Last week, I sat out the last round of the GNCC Series just to get ready for this weekend," he said. ''ll.nd it looks like it paid off. I had a good weekend here with no problems. The tests were real short, where any mistake would cost you. Short tests used to bother me. I just tried to relax and let things happen." "Jimmy was just riding good," Barber said. "Yesterday [following day one], I was and time schedules for the qualifier, and he was happy with the overall format. "We decided to concentrate on keeping things simple," he said. "The time schedules used were never intended to put pressure on only down by 12 seconds, but I just couldn't make up any time today. We rode the same course both days, and my riding style is better when the trail is fresh. By day two, everything was bumed in, and I kind of lost my edge." Barber piloted a Motors of America! Smith's Power Sports-backed Gas Gas. While Jarrett established himself as the man to beat, and with Barber in control of second place, less than eight seconds separated the next four positions. Rounding out the top six were KTM riders Mark the riders to make up time on the road sections." Gunny Claypoole, AHA jury representative for the ISDE, and Bruce Wackley, Team USA ISDE pare femne manager, were in attendance as well. Gas Gas Motors of America announced that it is, once again, offering free motorcy· c1es and support for any U.S. Trophy Team or Junior Trophy Team rider for this year's Slovak Republic ISDE. This is the second year in a row that the Spanish motorcycle manufacturer has offered this service for U.S. Trophy and Junior Trophy teams.
