The two riders didn't physically win the event, but on adjusted time, they were declared the victors... The eighth annual Mammoth Motocross took place at Mammoth Mountain in California. Over 500 riders flocked to the race to compete on arguably on of the most scenic tracks in the United States. Inside, we did a full test on the bike... Mike Baldwin led from start to finish at the 15th round of the AMA Grand National Championship Road Racing Series at Bryar Motorsports Park. For Baldwin, it was his fourth victory at the facility in as many years... Team Yamaha's Broc Glover was the winner of the 500cc class at round six of the AMA National Motocross Series in Lakewood, Colorado. Glover beat out Billy Lies and with the win took over the points lead ... Dave Thorpe was the winner at the fifth round of the 500cc World Motocross Championship Series in Montevarchi, Italy. American Danny Chandler crashed out while running third in the first moto. 10 YEARS A6U••• June ii?1, 1995 Jeff Emig won a strange Supercross Season final in Las Vegas, Nevada. That night, after over half the races were run, the lights unexpectedly shut off, forcing the delay of the night's action. When races got back under way. the mains were cut short by five laps each due to the delay... Dave Ondas, Paul Krause and Craig Smith took a bittersweet win at the Baja 500. They were the second of two Kawasaki teams. Danny Hamel was on the other team and was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car 10 miles from the start... We tested the new Husaberg FC50 I motocross bike at the picturesque Washougal Motocross Park in Washougal, Washington. We liked the jf$lirtJ1;1;il!i bike, but the front suspension needed some work. Officials at Unadilla Valley Sports Center have announced the continued alliance between the Unadilla MX National and Bombardier - the parent company of Bombardier ATV; Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobiles; Sea-Doo watercraft; Rotax karts and engines; and Johnson and Evinrude outboards. "I can't begin to tell you how happy we are to continue our alliance with Bombardier and all of its products," NPG member Greg Robinson of Unadilla said. "The guys at Bombardier enjoy coming back year after year to the legendary Unadilla track to showcase their great product in front of what proves to be a very ATV/snowmobile/watercraft-friendly crowd. Hypercycle's Hyperclub Track Day organization has partnered up with the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and American Suzuki Motor Corporation to offer select discounted track days in an effort to get riders out of the canyons and onto the track. Officers will be passing out flyers to the events - the first slated for June 27 at the Streets of Willow in Rosamond, California - while on duty at local bike nights, shops and during traffic stops. According to event promoters, Doug Henry will compete in the Supermoto event scheduled for June 16 as part of the 82nd Loudon Classic at New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire. The Legend of the Motorcycle: Interna· tional Concours d' Elegance will be held at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, California, on May 6, 2006, according to event promoters. The event will feature an exhibition of up to 200 motorcycles covering nearly a century of history, and they will be judged by an international panel of experts, according to promoters. Fast50s.com will field a Supermoto team in the remainder of the AHA and Supermoto USA Series, according to Fast50s. The team, called the Fast50s/Slide Motorsports Supermoto team, will feature Calvin Andlovec and 2000 Minibike World Champion Craig Mason, with guest rides slated to be filled by Australian Mark Avard, Tallon Vohland and 1994 125cc Motocross World Champion Bobby Moore. The team will ride Yamahas. "We are very excited on how much support we are getting this year from our past sponsors and some new ones," Mason said. "It was getting crazy working on bikes and such, and it took us a little longer to tie up all the loose ends. Former 250cc GP racer and current Cycle World contributing editor Nick lenatseh recently raced Stotz Racing's 2005 turbocharged Honda CBR I 100XX Blackbird in the 2005 AHA Prostar Pro Street Series, and the pairing made it to the semifinals. "We knew coming into St Louis that we had picked up 65 more horsepower over the winter running the same 30 pounds of boost as last year," said Kent Stotz, the Blackbird's regular pilot, "and I just can't say enough about Nick. We first worked together in Cycle World magazine's UFO project, and I knew that he had the physical skills, mental sharpness and sheer guts to do well in this sport. He exceeded everyone's expectations." On his first pass ever on a Pro Street bike, lenatsch clocked a 7.98-second quarter-mile at 180.B4 mph. His second pass was even better, netting him a 7.57 at 191.46. At the end of the qualifying session, lenatsch sat in the fifth position. In the semifinal against last year's champion, Barry Henson, lenatsch ran a 7.62 at 194.44 mph, though Henson won the round. According to a Speed Channel spokesperson, in addition to the live broadcast of the race, the motorsports channel will air qualifying from the U.S. MotoGP live from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Saturday, July 9. Speed's cqverage of the entire event will also be enhanced from what we normally get. Speed will take the international feed as always but will add some American flavor to it with interviews, personality pieces, etc., according to Speed. Jim Pomeroy has teamed up with Tami Rice-Haase to promote motocross clinics across the country. The duo will be working together, Pomeroy working with the intermediate/expert riders, while Rice-Haase concentrates on the beginner-level riders. North Carolina Motorsports Park in Henderson, North Carolina, about three hours southwest of Budds Creek, is inviting all AMA Pro license holders to an open practice at its facility on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17. A special ceremony took place on June B in Assen, Holland, where a new IO-year contract between the Dutch circuit and Dorna Sports was announced, meaning that MotoGP will be hosted in Assen until at least 2016. The announcement was made by IT Circuit Assen president Jos Vaessen and Doma Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta. The same event was used to officially open the new floating grandstand that was built in front of the start/finish line, allowing the runoff area required for safety reasons to be underneath it. This new facility is called the Geert Timmer Grandstand. The Gauloises IT Assen reaches its 75th anniversary in 2005 with round seven of the MotoGP World Championship.
