Editor. ~ TheMV I certainly hope Mat Mladin and Troy Corser get a chance to read Alan Cathcart's review of the Confederate F 124 Hellcat in Issue #20, wherein he tells readers that the MV Augusta F4 1000 is "currently king of the Superbike hill." Mat and Troy will want to suck it up before suiting up for their next race! Bruce Armstrong Santa Barbara, CA The Full WORCS I am writing after returning from round five of the WORCS Series in Payette, Idaho. I started riding in this series at the end of last The Last on Holden Column Whew, what a relief - all those pesky damned scientists with their heads full of, oh, I don't know, mathematical theories of statistical prediction and stuff like that, maybe, are shown to be anxiety-ridden tools of the quacking environmentalists by a pair of super bright and ungodly intuitive editors, a famous fiction writer, and one, okay, maybe just slightly biased energy company vice president. Global warming and petroleum shortages are but a figment in theirs' and 60 Minutes' minds. Why don't I feel any better? The thing is, I year and was iirm:m:e:d~i~a:te:l~y~---------------l hooked! It is • one huge family, and everyone is out to help each other and have fun. We got there on Thursday night and were walking the track when along came a very unassuming - and obviously a pro - rider, with his buddy behind us. It was other than "The Champ" Nathan Woods. We chatted with him, walked the track, and talked about our hometowns, the lines on the track, and life. I had some firsttime WORCS enlistees with me, and they couldn't believe it they were walking and talking with the past and current champ. How cool is that? And the next day we met up with the "Bro Show," Andy Jefferson. I guess what I'm saying is, these guy are just a couple of the pros you get to meet and talk to on a very real level. I thank the whole crew at WORCS for the chance to have fun! Danny La Porte, Gary Jones, MX Kid, Bobby Bonds - they are all there for a great time, and you never know who you'll get to talk to. Kevin Gries Alpine,WY 6 Please stop it and let us keep trying to play nice! Lance Harris, Ph.D. via the Internet Wanting to Climb As a supporter of the AMA Pro Hillclimb Series, I'd like to see more coverage of the series both on your website and in your magazine. I have been reading Cycle News for at least the past 10 years, and have noticed that while other disciplines of motorcycle racing are getting more and more coverage, Pro Hillclimbing seems to be getting less and less. On your website's home page, there is no link to Hillclimb under your "Results" and "Schedule" and "Calendar" sections. I attend each and every AMA Pro Hillclimb event nationwide, and fan attendance is growing each year. There is an entire fan base out there that your company is not servicing to the best of their abilities. Please reconsider. AmyM. Smith via the Internet Feelin.R Good for Roger I feel good for Roger DeCoster. After years of being saddled with mercurial Travis Pastrana, he finally has in Ricky Carmichael a rider who knows what racing is all about. ProfeSSionally, he has always been a class act, so he would never gloat. Privately, I bet you couldn't scrape that smile from his face with a CR2S0. It's nice to see yellow on top of the box again. I think Roger will agree. Robert Moss via the Internet MXTV would prefer that motorcyclists for the most part get along and play nice, looking after their (our) motorcycling interests, balancing them as best as possible with geopolitical realities. So, like, what the hell is this one-sided, slightly irrational, politically highly inflammatory editorial by Randy Holden (Issue # 17) doing in your newspaper? Because if you want us to fight, this is the way to go about starting it. JUNE 15,2005 • CYCLE NEWS So far, so good. The races were shown as scheduled. OLN does not run baseball scores or whatever at the bottom of the screen (thanks!). We are able to enjoy credible announcers (thanks, David Bailey!). I am willing to wait a week (or week and a half for 125s/2S0Fs) for the benefits of OLN coverage. We will have to see what happens during the Tour de France. And no, we shouldn't settle for ESPNtype coverage. Dave Martinez via the Internet
