he was strong early, the New Yorker
instead wound up in a battle with Gobert,
the two swapping the third spot a couple
times, with Spies waiting in the wings just
behind them, running fifth but unable to
move into the fray. Afterward, DiSalvo said
that he basically rode his own race.
"Tommy and Rog were on pretty quick
bikes, and they were riding great," DiSalvo
said. "We [Gobert and DiSalvo] had a good
little dice at the end. I had some fun on the
last lap, and thankfully I came out on top
and got to come back to the podium for a
second time this weekend."
The "fun" DiSalvo was referring to was
nearly disastrous.
"I had a little bit of a moment going into
Canada Corner on the last lap," DiSalvo
said. "It was right after Aaron [Gobert]
passed me. I squared him up and passed
him back, and after I went in super deep, I
saw a yellow flag in the corner. I was like,
'uh oh,' and I started tipping it in and was
so hard on the brakes, and I hit a little bit
of the sealer, the stripe or part of the curb
- I hit something that I hadn't done on previous laps. The back end just stepped out
really quick, off throttle, and it was a heartstopper. I was worried that Aaron was
going to come back around me, but I got
under the bridge and through the last corner good. I just stuck it out. I was doing
everything I could in the last corner. I
thought if I could lead out of there, Iwould
be okay. That was my plan, and it worked."
Behind Spies there was a great early
battle among M4 EMGO Suzuki's Geoff
May, Team Yamaha's Damon Buckmaster
and Peris Racing Yamaha rider Chris Peris.
The trio had been joined early by MPT
Racing.com Suzuki rider Danny Eslick and
Attack Kawasaki's Ben Attard. Both Eslick
and Attard dropped out around lap I I.
May then pulled away from Buckmaster
and Peris to finish sixth. Buckmaster outgunned Peris for seventh place.
Kneedraggers.com Yamaha's Robert
Jensen and Shambeau Kawasaki's Shawn
Conrad rounded out the top 10.

airy tale beginning led to a
reality ending for Michael
Barnes.
The early race leader used
p his rear tire and went
backward while Yoshimura Suzuki's
Aaron Yates went forward, all the way to
his second Repsol Lubricants Superstock
victory of the season, this time with a
last-lap pass of Barnes' teammate, Geoff
May.
In his second ride on the Team M4
EMGO Suzuki for the injured Vincent
Haskovec, Barnes led the first three laps
before giving way to teammate May. The
pair ran one-two until lap seven, when
Yates took over second from the soon to
fade Barnes.
"I was pushing so hard catching him,
and once I finally got there, it just worked
out just perfect," Yates said.
For the final three laps Yates stalked
fellow Georgian May, making a decisive
pass in turn two on the final lap.
"I just kind of carried it up in there like
before, actually a liule slower: I wanted to
make sure I got in there and stayed inside
of him and didn't run too wide on the
exit," Yates said. "It worked out really
good."
Yates rode protectively for the final 12
turns, crossing the line .795 of a second in
the lead for his second Superstock victory of the year. But it wasn't without its
drama.
