Mike Alessi gets his first win
R
ed Bull KTM's Mike Alessi, all 17
years and 127 pounds of him, bested the best of the I 25-c1ass racers
at High Point Raceway. And he did
it convincingly.
Alessi managed to put last weekend's last-lap,
last-tum disaster behind him and rode offwith the
first-moto victory. A second place in the second
moto assured him of his first outdoor National
victory, proving that he has indeed arrived. With
the win, Alessi moved up from ninth in the standings to second, right behind Mike Brown. the one
rider who prevented Alessi from having a perfect
day.
"I had a great day today, a great start first in the
first moto and just checked out," Alessi said. "The
feeling of winning, especially an outdoor race, is
just great. This is everything I've ever wanted to
do since I first rode a bike at three, and to come
here and do this was just breathtaking - it really
was."
Joining Alessi on the box was longtime Alessi
rival, Team Makita Suzuki's Davi Millsaps in second
and new 125-elass points leader, Jim's Cycle
