rounds of the Vet X Winter Series, a two-day event, with
each day having individual event points. With the amount of
points up for grabs and the series ending, the racers were
poised to grab as many points as possible to bring up their
points tallies. The perfectly prepared Glen Helen track challenged riders with long lap times. As the day progressed, the
[rack acquired its usual inherent challenges to the riders, making the event a test of everyone's skills.
The Over 43 Novice class featured a battle between Frank
Mierau and Joe Pena. They split moto wins, with Shock
Therapy-backed Mierau coming out on top with 1-2 finishes.
Though Pena took the second-mota win, he had finished third
in the first moto, which handed the win to Mierau. PIM-backed
Honda rider Barry Brooks battled with the mota winners, and
his 2-3 finishes put him on the final step of the podium.
In the Pro classes, it was two Suzuki riders taking the wins.
Chris Young put in an amazing performance by sweeping three
classes with first-place finishes. He was followed by Willy
Musgrave, who took second-place finishes in all three classes.
The two were very impressive and took home Suzuki
contingency money in those classes. In the Pro Open and 36-42
Pro classes, Craig Davis scored a pair of 3-3 finishes, making it
a Suzuki sweep of the top three spots in these two Pro classes.
In the 28-35 Pro class, Troy Lee Designs/MRD
Racing/Chaparral-backed Honda rider Craig McCall's 5-3
finishes gave him third overall.
In the Over 28 Novice class, Beach Yamaha/TLD/FMFbacked Ray Rabjohn tallied I-I finishes, dominaling the class.
Series regular Jeff Evans placed second in the first moto but
could only garner a fifth in the second stanza, which handed
second overall to Warren Johnson. Third place went to Tim
Burandt, who backed up a first-moto fifth with a second-place
finish in the final moto
In the 36-42 Novice class, the top finishers were mixing it up.
The rider who ultimatety prevailed was Honda-mounted Kevin
