change. The company thinks that with its combination of technical prowess and cutting-edge image. it can change the opinion of what Americans think about cruisers. The M50 is one of Suzuki's first forays into the performance cruiser market. It is a middleweight cruiser. a segment of the market that Suzuki is already well established in. The motor is a SO-cubic-inch (80Scc). 4S-degree V-twin, with liquid cooling. four-valve heads. overhead cams and fuel injection. Suzuki has taken advantage of the technologies that are at its fingertips and incorporated them into its cruisers. Who said that cruisers have to utilize 1920s technology? The fuel-injection system is technology poached from the GSX-R line, and it incorporates a single Hmm throttle body with dual-throttle butterfly valves and a fourhole injector. The system incorporates a throttle-position sensor. which sends information to a 32-bit processor for precise fuel delivery at any rpm. The motor provides plenty of power from its 805cc, but if you are looking for more you may want to check out the MSO's big brother, the M9S, with its 15S2cc motor. The nice thing about the M50 is the level of refinement from the powerplant. The combination of usable torque and clean fuel delivery makes the M50 a nice ride, especially for an entry-level cruiser. The low 27.6-inch seat height and low center of gravity make this a great bike for a wide variety of riders. and yet the motor is powerful enough to keep them entertained. The transmission is a five-speed unit and shifts as smooth as butter. The power is transferred The MSO oHers a comfortable riding position with a neutral reach to the handlebars. The dash is a mixture of an analog speedometer and an LCD information screen. Indicator lights for other information reside in the pod on the gas tank. The seat height is low enough for a wide variety of riders to plant their feet firmly on the ground. to the ground through a shaft drive. The chassis features an inverted Kayaba fork up front with a 16-inch tire and single 300mm disc brake. Out back is a I70/80-1 5 rear tire. The M50 feels nimble and light in the corners and offers plenty of lean angle; it will actually lean further than the footpegs have clearance for. as I found out. The front brake proVides more then enough power to get the 544-pound motorcycle stopped. The M50 is a comfortable. good-performing. entry-level bike for a variety of riders. The M50 is all about styling at an affordable price. If attitude is what you are looking for. the M50's combination of long and low architecture may be the bike. Features such as the bike's soft-tail rear end, bobbed rear fender. custom-look stretched fuel tank. blacked-out cast-alloy wheels. dual staggered exhaust pipes. LED taillights and a multireOeetor headlamp are a lot of features for the bike's $6849 asking price. The Boulevard line of cruisers covers the gamut of riders, from beginner through experienced riders. There should be a bike in the range to fit anyone, from seat heights that are female friendly to larger. more powerful bikes for the experienced rider. The M50 is available in three colors, including red. blue and 01 the $1 Olk:heaper black version.
