Series took off with the GP of
Europe. held the first day of
May at the Motodromo di
CasteIIetto di Ilranduzzo In CasteIIetto di
Branduzzo, Italy. A new race fonnat (same
as the one adopted by motoaOSS, which
declares the CMll'lIIl winner ' - l on c0mbined scores from two motos) and a new
lineup brought some fresh air into the
series. With the experience gained from
the first few seasons, World Supermoto
seems to be on the way to becoming a
more stabilized and settled sport.
11le season opener showcased a massive amount of excitement and battling.
11le biggest news of the year sure is the
switch by some of the top riders, who
raced the 5 I class in 2004, to the smaller
S2 class, which in the near future win likely become the new major class in the
series. Among them, to name lust a few.
are 2003 World Champ Eddy SeeI on his
Husqvarna and factory KTM's Boris
Chambon. These two names, added to
those of Davide Gottlni, Mosslmo
Beltrami. Jerome Glraudo and Frederic
BoIley. practically guarantee a year of
high-level competition.
