It took several laps before Rodrigues could be removed from the section, which played havoc with the riders. Once Millsaps got out front, he established a solid rhythm and made no mistakes, keeping himself far ahead of the competition. The two battled back and forth briefly before langston railed Hepler in the right-hander before the first triple jump on lap six, sending the young Suzuki rider to the ground. langston would try to eat into Millsaps lead for the rest of the race, but he would have to settle for the runner-up position.
