across the final two laps for a total of 47 and third overall. Webb admitted to struggling with the pressures of the event and with poor line choic!,s, but he still man- '. aged an impressive fourth, just ahead of Irish Gas Gasrider Michael Burton. Sunday's course was situated more in the creek area and featured broad jumps from rock to rock across the picturesque streams. The competition was almost a carbon copy of Saturday's event, with Aaron again starting strongly, while Ie Riche claimed five-point rides on each of the first four sections and eventually finished the first lap with more than twice what Aaron had. Florin was only slightly better, taking 10 more than Aaron's first-lap score of 17. However, just as he had done the day before, Ie Riche answered his poor first-lap performance with two brilliant laps that were by far the best of the day. But, it was too little, too late. Aaron again took the win, while Florin just nipped Ie Riche for second by a single point. "I've made a big improvement over last year, and I have to look at [thiS event] as a positive," said Ie Riche, who claimed his first-ever U.S. National win the week before in Texas. "At least my loop scores were improving as the day went on. I know what I've got to work on now, and I'm gonna work on it hard and give it my all in Colorado and California." With four rounds in the books, Aaron carries a 14point lead, I 15-10 I, over Ie Riche going into rounds five eN and six in Colorado, with Florin in third with 82. The 4T features a four-valve SOHC, liquid-cooled, short-stroke, 317cc engine, which was developed by PXC, the Sherco Trial Competition Department. Amazingly, the engine is fitted into the same frame that houses the two-stroke engine, therefore it handles very similarly. Unlike the Montesa 4RT, which was introduced just last month, the 4T relies on a conventional carburetor to supply fuel mixture to the engine. David Chaves debuted the bike in competition at Tennessee, finishing second in the Expert division, behind Sherco teammate Travis Fox on the two-stroke. Diego Ordonez of Guatemala competed in Texas and Tennessee with the help of Ryan Young Products and Sherco USA After winning both days of the High School division at the Texas round, the previous week, Ordonez moved up a class division in Tennessee where he finished third overall in Expert Sportsman. Bruce Ie Riche is a regular instructor at the Trials Training Center, which was the venue for the Tennessee round. The facility has a main lodge and several cabins available for rent, as well as hookups for RVs, bike rentals, and several lodging packages for riders who wish to participate in two-day training sessions. le Riche was seen conducting a school for several youth riders on Friday before the National event. Geoff Aaron has started production on a new sequel to the very popular Balancing Act DVD series, Balancing Act 4. "We've been working on the latest DVD for sometime now, but we have just now gone full-speed into production and should be able to release it by midseason," Aaron said. "We have some amazing footage from all over the world - some stuff of Adam Raga from Spain, some of the Trial des Nations, and lots of new footage." CYCLE NEWS • MAY 4,2005 SS _,. ~ ,<:; ~
