big surprise was the speed of Frenchman Fabien Planet, making his debut on a 2S0cc KTM after several years in the 12Scc class. With Merriman comfortably topping the E2 class on day one, Planet finished in a well-deserved second position some 20 seconds ahead of Aro to claim his bestever WEC result. With Aro claiming third, the E2 class saw 12 riders fail to finish because of the difficult conditions, including Finn Petri Pohjamo, who crashed near the end of the day and broke his elbow. With the exception of Merriman claiming the win, as he had on day one, the E2-c1ass results looked very different on day two from day one's. Aro managed to improve to the runner-up spot, while Husqvarnamounted Swede Anders Eriksson claimed the final podium spot in third, squeezing ahead of Planet. The newly introduced Enduro Junior class provided some close racing on both days in Spain despite a high number of the junior riders failing to finish the first day's competition because of the slippery conditions. Topping the class on both days and posting some impressively strong results along the way was Spaniard Cristabal Guerrero. Winning both days by over a minute and a half, Guerrero was followed home by his teammate Oriol Mena on day one, with British-based Aussie Jake Stapleton claiming third. eN SPANISH WEe GUADALAJARA, SPAIN RESULTS: APRIL 2-3, 2005 (ROUND JUNE 2-5 The largest AMA event in the Midwest!
