Ty Howard took home the most cash from the
Central Motorcycle Roodracing Association
Championship Sprint Series opener at Oak Hill
Raceway in Henderson, Texas.
followed by Small, Montgomery and John Orchard. On lap two,
Bryan West, riding a GSX-R6oo, moved ahead of Orchard for
fourth, while Small continued to dog Howard for the lead. A
few laps later, Howard ran wide going into turn six, giving Small
all the room he needed to move by and take the lead, while
Orchard, Montgomery and West continued to sort things out a
few seconds back. Howard followed for a few laps, checking
out Small's lines, before moving back into the lead for good
with an inside move in tum four. From there, Howard turned
up the wick and took the checkers with nearly five seconds to
spare over Small, with Montgomery, West and Orchard
rounding out the top five.
''I'm on a new bike here, and it took me a couple of laps to
get used to it after riding in the rain all morning," said Howard.
"[Small] kind of had an advantage, because he didn't have to
ride in the rain this morning, where all of us who rode in the
rain had to get reacclimated. I followed him for about three
laps, then decided it was time to go."
Howard returned later in the day and scored additional wins
in the Racing Performance Services B Superstock Expert race
(which paid a $150 purse), the RaceworX C Superbike Expert
race (which also paid a $1 SO purse), and the Pace American
Trailers Formula I Expert race (which paid a $1000 purse).
