Salem Arenacross Pit Bike Night Forster livestock Pavilion See Will Race, See Will Win By JUSTIN WHARTON SALEM, OR, FEB. 19 T he last event run at Salem Arenacross for the year just happened to be their Pit Bike Night. So, after a long practice session, pit-bike lovers got to compete on a track that would be gone in a matter of hours. The largest class of the night, the 50cc Modified class, put on quite a show. The quick-starting Trevor Krogh got ahead of the pack in both motos to take the overall win with a I-I score. Krogh didn't have it easy, though, as each mota saw at least four riders hounding his rear fender, hungry for that first-place pOSition. Keith DiBrino put in steady laps throughout both motos and was awarded second place with a 2-3 tally. Using consistency to his advantage, Aron Gruetzke rounded out the podium in third with a 4-4 score. After several falls in the second moto, Justin Wharton (3-5) took fourth, and Rob Miller (6-6) was fifth. The Midsize class featured a showdown between ascc hotshots William See and Matt De Atley, as the two were riding some of the trickest I lOs around. De Atley seemed to run into some motor gremlins, so he was just off See's pace, letting See win both motos. De Atley (2-2) still finished second, and Bryon Smith (4-3) took third. John Fowler (3-4) took fourth, and Craig Schocko (5-5) took fifth. See and De Atley got to duke it out with the fast guys in the Open class, and they did surprisingly well. See rode his I 10 like he does his 85 - wide open. See won both motos going away, as no one was able to challenge him. While unable to keep up wit" See's I 10, Krogh rode his 50 to a second-place finish, holding off advances from De Atley, who De Atley took the Lhird-place pOSition. DiBrino (4-4) was fourth, and the lone Xtreme rider, Wharton (5-5), finished fifth.
