Saturday's highlight came when practice ended and 188 fans boarded chartered buses for a fun and convenient shuttle to and from the AMA Supercross in nearby Atlanta. Sunday's opener doubled as the third annual Roger DeCoster Ride For Kids event. More than 450 entrants from 14 states signed up to race. Loretta Lynn's announcer Erv Braun was in the house to keep the crowd informed and entertained. Track owner Eddie Ridley and SAS series promoter Vickie Roberts received many compliments for their track preparation and flawless organization. The generous number of caution·flag personnel was noteworthy, and the ambulance never moved all day. To make a great day of racing even better, the "100 percent" chance of rain predicted failed to materialize. Michigan's Brad Smith and Ohio's Michael Willard scorched the track in both the 125cc and 2S0cc A divisions. There were several lead changes, but Great Lakes Powersports' Smith came out on top both times, winning three out of four matos, over KTM's Willard. seemed content with a second-place finish, which placed him firmly on top of the podium, ahead of Vickery (2-3). Horne's 6-1 tally earned the bronze. Osborne, Vickery and Horne squared off again in the huge 12Scc B class. This time, it was Osborne who crashed while leading the opening mota, landing in the DNF column, while Horne rode on to win both motos. Vickery stayed in the hunt and finished third overall, behind Brad Adams. SYD/Fox-backed Andrew Gaddis romped to a six-moto win streak aboard his 450cc Suzuki, taking the gold in the 250c( B, FourStroke and Unlimited Amateur divisions. Close behind Gaddis in the 250c( B class, Gregory Roberts and Vickery were the top contenders for runner-up honors. Roberts' 4-2 score earned the silver. Vickery was set back by a spill in mota two, but his 2-12 tally was still good enough for fifth overall. P.J. Larsen came from behind in three of the four motos in the 85cc (14-15) and Supermini classes and pocketed perfect scores both times out. Runner-up Cody Robbins held the initial lead in both Supermini matos, only to see his Kawasaki teammate Larsen go by for the wins. Michigan's Brad Smith won three out of four motos in the 125cc and 250cc A classes at the opening round of the third annual AMA Southern All-Stars MX Tour at Diamondback Sports Center in Resaca, Georgia. Osborne. Horne crashed twice and finished sixth, while Osborne cruised to the win and Vickery moved up to finish second on his Kawasaki. Horne took control in moto two and won by a comfortable margin. Osborne 50 SHAFT: I. Steven Patrick Billstrom (Yam); 2. Chase Haley (Yam); 3. Jackson Quarles (Yam); 4. Devan Bomar (Yam); S.
