Sebastien Tortelli
4th
Team Makita Suzuki's Sebastien Tortelli had a strong showing in Dallas. He passed Travis
Pastrana to win the second semi and battled his way up to fourth in the main. "I got a good
start but got pinched out on the outside,"
Tortelli said of his race. "I worked my way
up and was sixth or seventh on the first
lap, passed Vuillemin a couple of times,
laRocco, and after that I was behind
Travis Preston. He was riding great at the
beginning, but I got him midrace. After
that, I stayed fourth and tried not to make
any mistakes. I tangled with one of the
lappers once and that got my heartbeat
racing a little bit. The whoops were tricky
and the track was pretty tricky - slick in
some spots, rough - it was a good track for the 450."
13 Heath Voss
8th
Despite not being fully recovered from his practice crash following the Adanta Supercross,
Heath Voss still laid down an impressive eighth-place finish. "My back and peMs are still bothering me," Voss said. "I'm all right, but I'm really pissed off because I can't hang on with my legs. I
can't stand on my left leg alone. I'm still pretty store. Mentally, Iwant to go, but Ican't."

Mike LaRocco
5th
The AmsoiVChaparraI Honda rider once again struggled with his starts in Dallas. LaRocco transferred via a third-place finish in his heat and then got off to an eighth-place start in the main
event. He batded it out with David Vuillemin and Travis Preston for a while before breaking into
the top fIVe on the 17th lap. laRocco is currently seven points behind Kevin Windham for third
place in the selies standings.
14 Kevin Windham
7th
Kevin Windham spent the entire main event making up for a bad start. The AmsoiVChaparral
Honda rider completed the first lap in 16th place and steadily worked his way up to the front.
He passed Travis Preston for seventh, his final advancement of the night, on the 14th lap.
early in the race.
"The second lap, , tripled in the back
and came up just a little short," Reed
said. 'Y\nd as I came up to the next turn,
, lost the front and wasn't able to double
before the sand there. That was kind of
the break of the race, just kind of lost
contact. That mistake dropped me a lot.
That was the first time I tried to jump
that jump. I lost a bit of a rhythm.
'Y\fter that, we were pretty much just
running the same," Reed said. "I was just
watching the pit board and putting some
good laps together. I wanted to be consistent and just tried to ride my race.
The gap went to a big margin and it just
kind of stayed there. Me and Ricky were
the same, as well."
Carmichael felt as though he could've
passed Reed on the last lap even if he
hadn't fallen over.
""m disappointed at myself with the
first part of the moto," Carmichael said.
'" looked at the lap times, and the second part [of the racel was awesome. ,
think I could've made the pass regardless
what happened the last lap. I was inching
up. , think he knew' was coming; he was

making mistakes."
Once Stewart established his lead, the
Kawasaki rider rode just fast enough to
maintain a comfortable margin. But as
the laps dwindled down and victory was
imminent, Stewart was battling the firstwin jitters.
"The last three laps, , was so nervous
out there It wasn't even funny," he said.
"But man, I got it - a solid 20 laps! I'm
ready for Pontiac. It's going to be fun
from here on out."
After Stewart crossed the finish line,
he laid his bike down, kneeled down and
kissed the ground. Carmichael rode up,
picked him up and congratulated Stewart
on his victory.
"It was a good celebration for me,"
Stewart said. '" was just really excited to
get my first win, and' didn't know what
to do - that was my dance. At that time,
I had my face in the ground and' thought
it was one of my team members picking
me up. Ricky is a great champion. He's
won a lot of races and to be picked up by
someone like that, it was cool. I really
appreciate him coming over to me. It
was great."

'" saw him pretty much laying there,"
Carmichael said, "and I picked him up and
put his hand up. It's a great feeiing to win,
and I give him credit where credit is due."
Stewart pretty much summed up his
night: "It was good. All the pressure is off
eN
now. I'm a happy man."
