In a move that left the Daytona crowd
gasping, Team Red Bull KTM's Josh Hansen

came from behind on the last lap and
slammed into leader Josh Grant and
his Amsoil/Chapparal/Factory
Connection Honda, sending both men to
the ground hard, Hansen was able to get up
and get moving to win his first Daytona
Supercross by Honda 12Scc main event and the second of his AMA Supercross
career - by just 2.134 seconds.
"It went good," said Hansen, the son of
1982 AMA Supercross Champion Donnie
Hansen. "Daytona, I think everybody
alvvays counts me out here like at an outdoor track. It was good to definitely be able
to do it here. My dad, being a past champion, didn't get to win here. To win when he
hasn't gonen to, and on his birthday, was
just awesome."
The collision marked the perfect end to
a I 2Scc Eastern Region main event that was
an equally wild, unpredictable crashfest,
with several pre-race favorites, including

Suzuki's Davi Millsaps
and Team Monster/Pro
Circuit Kawasaki teammates Matt
Walker and Grant Langston all crashing
at least twice. Neither Walker nor
Millsaps finished the main event.

holeshot, leading privateer Honda
rider Donnie McGourty, who would
ultimately drop back to eighth.
Millsaps, meanwhile, high-sided off
Hansen's teammate, Ryan Mills, in
the comer just before the first
triple and dropped back deep in
