f you've seen the film, then you know the scene. In the classic 1979 motion picture Rocky II, Sylvester Stallone's character, Rocky Balboa, is behind in points to World Heavyweight Champion Apollo Creed in the last round of their muchanticipated World Heavyweight Championship bout when Balboa unleashes a heavy blow that sends both exhausted pugilists to the ground, Not to be denied, the heroic Balboa struggles to his feet to beat the referee's count by one second and take the tide in a stunner. Change the boxing gloves to motocross gloves, the body blows to bar banging, and that's pretty much what you had dUring round four of the THQ AMA 12Scc Eastern Region Supercross Series under the lights at Daytona International Speedway. In a move that left the Daytona crowd gasping, Team Red Bull KTM's Josh Hansen I came from behind on the last lap and slammed into leader Josh Grant and his Amsoil/Chapparal/Factory Connection Honda, sending both men to the ground hard, Hansen was able to get up and get moving to win his first Daytona Supercross by Honda 12Scc main event and the second of his AMA Supercross career - by just 2.134 seconds. "It went good," said Hansen, the son of 1982 AMA Supercross Champion Donnie Hansen. "Daytona, I think everybody alvvays counts me out here like at an outdoor track. It was good to definitely be able to do it here. My dad, being a past champion, didn't get to win here. To win when he hasn't gonen to, and on his birthday, was just awesome." The collision marked the perfect end to a I 2Scc Eastern Region main event that was an equally wild, unpredictable crashfest, with several pre-race favorites, including 28 MARCH 23, 2005 • CYCLE NEWS Team Makita Suzuki's Davi Millsaps and Team Monster/Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammates Matt Walker and Grant Langston all crashing at least twice. Neither Walker nor Millsaps finished the main event. Amsoil/Chapparal Factory Connection's Josh Grant got the holeshot, leading privateer Honda rider Donnie McGourty, who would ultimately drop back to eighth. Millsaps, meanwhile, high-sided off Hansen's teammate, Ryan Mills, in the comer just before the first triple and dropped back deep in the field. A linle farther down the
