Bryce Huffman was the Supermini winner at the second round of the GFI Winter Series in Turlock, California. GFI Winter Series Round 2: Oatfield Raceway Rinauro, HuHman Masters of the Minis By JIM AND JUSTIN ENOS TURLOCK, CA, JAN. 30 A pair of Suzuki riders took top honors in the SOce Intermedi~ /"""\ate and Supermini classes at round two of the GFI Wimer Series. With factory contingency up for grabs. hundreds converged on one of Northern California's most popular tracks, the Garfield Raceway. In 80ce Intermediate action, Ricky Rinauro put together a pair of solid rides to top a very competitive I S~rider field. In mota one, Yamaha speedster Topher Ingalls set the pace out front early on, as Rinauro and Landon Currier gave chase. Ingalls rode mistake·free [0 take the checkers, while Rinauro held off the relentless pressure from Currier for the two spot. In moto two, it was once again Ingalls out front, and the first two laps were a repeat of mota one. However, on lap three, Ingalls went down. and Rinauro was right there to capitalize and take over the lead. Currier tagged along, while Ingalls rebounded in the third spot. Although Ingalls put on a valiant charge that saw him gaining ground on Currier, the checkers came out, and the win gave Rinauro the overall on the day via a 2-1 score. Ingalls still managed to snag the runner-up spot with his 1-3 tally, while Currier rounded out the top three with a 3-2 effort. The Supermini class featured many of the same players. In moto one, it was Ingalls out front, ahead of Rinauro. Bryce Huffman and Currier. Things got crazy. though. as Ingalls went down early on. handing the lead to Rinauro, who promptly lost his seat at the landing of a small step-up. Apparently not happy with the situation, Rinauro turned around. fetched his seat off the track and proceeded to reinstall it while the entire field went by. Meanwhile, Ingalls once again regained the lead, only to get passed by Huffman just one turn before the checkers. Tyler Bereman. who started in about the seventh spot, pressed on to round out the top three. In mota two, with his seat firmly reattached. Rinauro went out and took a wire·to-wire victory, while Ingalls once again had troubles while in the second spot, going down on the fourth lap. Huffman was right there, and he chased after Rinauro, but he had to settle for second; however, his 1-2 effort was good enough for the overall. Ingalls held on for the three spot and earned runner-up overall, while Bereman rounded out the top three with a hard-charging 3-4 showing. In 80cc Novice action, Blake Ballard made his intentions clear right out of gate, as he led every lap of both motos for the overall win among a 22-rider field. Behind him, scores were a little less consistent, as Keith Knight mustered up a 2-5 score for the second spot, and Jason Gandzjuk followed up to round out the top three with a 7-2 effort.
