The two were set to do battle at the legendary race in a few weeks... jimmy Ellis and Steve Stackable were the big winners at the opening round of the Yamaha Super Series of Motocross in Dallas, Texas. The race took place in a packed Texas Stadium in front of 48,000 people... There were some new faces atop the CMC motocross podium at a race in Orange. California. Jeff Matiasevich was the top intermediate rider at the final round of the CMC/SkoaJ Bandits Golden State Amateur Nationals. He took the championship in both the 125cc and 250cc classes... We got a chance to swing a leg over the new Triumph Trophy 4. It was the first Triumph that the company had imported to the United States since beginning production five years earlier... Ty Davis took the victory at the opening round of the National Enduro series in Coalinga, California. Randy Hawkins finished second, while desert ace Danny Hamel was third ... Mike Healey bested David Pingree for the 125cc Pro-class win at round four of the CMCNelvetouch Golden State Nationals at Los Angeles County Raceway. Today, Healey is teaching motocross skills to young riders, and Pingree works as an editor at Racer X Magazine. Con,inued from page 9 Round four of the 2005 South GFI Winter Series will be held this Sunday, March 6 at Racetown in Adelanto, California. Due to the weather and time restraints, this will be the final round of the 2005 GFI South Winter Series. GFI will award points per moto. Matsushima Performance Suzuki has announced its AMA road race team for 2005, with the squad competing as MPTRacing.com! JC Baldwin Suzuki. Danny Eslick and jeremiah Johnson will compete on Pirelli-shod Suzuki GSX-R6oos with both focusing on the AMA Pro Honda Oils Supersport and AMA Lockhart Phillips USA Formula Xtreme classes. The Red Bull Ride to the Hills, a back-toroots freeride challenge on natural terrain at jackpot Ranch (private land on the central coast of California), will be held in March. The invite-only event will pit top freeriders against one another over two days. The riders will judge themselves by watching video of each rider's two runs over six lones. The tentative list of riders scheduled to take part in the event are as follows: Doug Parsons, Dustin Miller, Ronnie Renner, Mike Jones, Dan Pastor, jesse Olson, Travis Pastrana, Drake McElroy, Mike Mason, Beau Bamburg and Carey Hart. Together, these programs provide $871,000 for racers on Ducati motorcycles.
