CMC Northwest Winter Arenacross Series Round 8: Forster Livestock Pavilion Metzler Puts the Brakes on McMackin's Streak By ClAY LIGHT SALEM, OR, JAN. 29 Y amaha rider Travis McMackin finally met his match during arenacross racing inside the Forster Livestock Pavilion at the Oregon State Fairgrounds. Suzuki-mounted Adam Metzler returned from a four-month injury-induced layoff to capture the overall 125cc and Before The Hill Intermediate·c1ass victories at round eight of the CMC Northwest Winter Arenacross Series, putting an end to McMackin's win streak. One of the Northwest's top Intermediate riders, Metzler grabbed the lead at the start of the opening Before The Hill moto and never looked back. The Suzuki rider had McMackin to deal with in the early stages of the moto, but Metzler broke free of McMackin and Honda·mounted Shane Skiles to snare the moto victory. Skiles, who trailed Metzler and McMackin at moto's end, was the top-placing Junior-class rider. Philip Springer, Brad Batchelor, Allen Yother and Corey Howell completed the top five in the adjoined Junior class. Moto two was much the same: Metzler jumped out front slightly ahead of McMackin and then fended off challenges from McMackin to cap off his I-I sweep of the class. McMackin trailed Metzler overall.
