wins for the overall among a 21-rider field.
Corey Pennington toughed out a 6-2 score for
the two spot on the day, followed by Austin
Ingalls, who rounded out the top three with a
4-4 tally.
Bryce Huffman and Ricky Rinauro traded
wins in the Supermini class; Huffman got the
nod with a 2-1 score, over Rinauro's 1-2 effort.
Brush Prairie, Washington's Landon Currier
made the long journey south worthwhile with a
third overall on the day via a 3-3 score.
In the 60cc Open class, Paul D'Eredita
topped the field. as his 2-1 score bested Chase
Twohig (3-2) and Mark Braden (1-5).

DIXON, CA, JAN. 23
S
teve Garlington of the Bay chapter of the
Over The Hill Gang got a great start off a
concrete start pad encrusted on all sides with
sloppy, wet clay dirt from weeks of relentless
rain, and he hooked up on the well-prepared
track to lead the Over 38 Intermediate pack in
moto one. Steve Bennett got a last-place start
but charged hard to within a few bikelengrhs of
Garlington by the fourth lap before he slid out.
Garlington held on to finish first.
In the second moto, with the start now
worked in a bit. Rob Woerhle absconded with
the holeshot, only to give up (our poSitions by
the third lap. A hard-charging Garlington took
the lead, but with Bennett nipping at his rear
knobby on this tight track and Jess Prolaska at
Bennett's rear tire, you couldn't have threaded
a needle between the (ront three. Garlington
held on to win the second mota and earn his
first overall win in the Intermediate class.
Prolaska took advantage of a last-turn-beforethe-checkered-flag missed gear by Bennett to
earn a 2-2 finish and second overall.
The Sierra chapter's Tommy Brackens (a.k.a.
the "human dragster" in the X Games and a
former pro BMXer) took his first shot at the
Over 38 Expert class and learned the hard way
what not to do on a snotty start (i.e., stall one's
bike). and he had to sellie for fourth. In the
second mota, Brackens got a mid pack start and
charged hard the entire moto, picking of( riders
to finish second, behind Billy Carlson of the Bay
chapter, who went I-I for the day.
Dave Watts of the Over 45 Beginner class
said that switching from an old Honda XR to a
newer-model CRF4S0R made all the difference
in the world. He pulled a consistent 2-2 tally for
the day (behind winner Steve Taylor). Next
week, Watt will get it out of second gear and
try third.

in the combined 8Scc (12-13) and
1'-{14-16) Stock contest at Mesquite Moto-X
ParI<, 8Scc (12-13) charger Austin Murdock proved
too much for everyone. even the older guys.
Murdock jumped right out in front of race
one. with feliow 12- to 13-year-olds c.J. Hinkle
and Casey Mello close behind. Murdock. Hinkle
and Mello stayed "Dial-close," and Rowdy
Williamson joined the fast, tight pack at the
front of the race. By the end of the first lap,
Murdock and Hinkle had broken free and were
opening up a lead on the rest of the field. The
rest of the race was intense, as the lead
changed hands between Hinkle and Murdock
several times. Murdock was able to make a final
pass on the west side to edge Hinkle for the
win. Williamson led Mello and the rest across
the line.
Murdock repeated his holeshot to start moto
two. with Williamson and Mello chasing. Hinkle
soon joined the lead group. Hinkle was on the
move. charging through the pack to grab the lead
in the race's closing stages. On the very last lap,
Hinkle went down, allowing Murdock to edge
Mello for his second straight win - and the 85cc
(12-13) title. Mello led Williamson and Shaun
Harrison in the final results, while Kyle Murdock
topped Garrett Bowers in the 14-16 division.
A very interesting contest took place in the
12Scc Junior division. Brock Bryant jumped off
the line to lead pre-race favorite Brodie
Zac Humphries was the 2S0cc Pro
winner ot the Interstate 15 Series
opener in Mesquite, Nevada.
Humphries, but Humphries quickly swooped
past for the lead before the big hill. Brennan
Stewart also made an early move, surging into
second on lap one. Humphries and Stewart
went at it for the lead, with Bryant close
behind. Brock went down on the white-flag lap,
leaVing Humphries and Stewart to battle for the
win. A slight bobble by Humphries in one of the
last corners produced a photo finish, with
Stewart picking up the Victory by mere inches.
Bryant snagged another holeshot to start the
second haJf, with Humphries and Stewart just
behind him. Humphries stuffed Bryant in a
corner to take the point and, with Stewart in
third, it looked like the overall was within
Humphries' reach. Then Humphries dipped it
on the east side, putting himself out of the race.
Bryant and Stewart continued on, running nose
to tail, until Bryant took the win. Stewart's
second was good enough to edge Bryant for the
overall, however, with Brian Broughton, Blake
Syouard and Darin Anderson filling out the top
five spots.
