., THQ AMA 12Scc Eastern Region Supercross Series a jump right before the mechanics' area. "That was a great save by Matt," Langston said. "I saw him sideways, and my first thought was , had better pass him. Then he did this huge powerslide coming back the other way, and I almost hit him. Then I decided I had better wait." "Unfortunate'y, I kinda got tossed around a little bit and knocked the breath out of myself," Walker said. "It's just one of those things where you have to block it out." Langston took advantage and grabbed the lead in the whoops. ':A.t Indy, I had arm pump really bad because I was leading early," Langston said. "So I tried to stay relaxed, but it was funny because I think about two laps after I passed Matt for the lead, my arms pumped up again! Maybe my strategy now should be to wait until the last lap." He almost didn't get there, because Walker regrouped and closed the gap right back up, but a few more mistakes prevented Walker from attempting a pass. '" wasn't even tired at the end, but the thing is he didn't get tired either," Walker said. "But he rode solid. No offense to him, but I didn't think he could go the full 15 laps." Langston could and did, and he held on for his second career win. Meanwhile, Boniface was pumped to get his second-career podium with third. "I didn't even have a ride at the begin- 22 ning of the year, so this is good," the Frenchman said. '" had some good lap times today in practice, so I just needed a good start and I could run the pace. No one believed in me in the upcoming season. My goal this season was to show everyone they made a mistake." Boniface took the long road to the main event, winning the 125 LCQ. But he powered to a good start on Atlanta's long start straight from his outside gate, maneuvered past Smith to get into third and was never passed after that. '" thought I could maybe catch Langston, but my arms pumped up a little bit," he later admitted. Millsaps wasn't so lucky with his start. He jumped into a huge pileup right off the start in his heat and barely qualified, and he couldn't produce a start with his bad gate pick. He slowly moved toward the front to salvage some points and stay in the title hunt. But Langston is now out front in the series as well, and in a series that rewards consistency, his championship experience might lead him all the way to another championship. eN GEoRGIA DoME AnANrA, GEoRGIA R!sws: FEBRUARY 26, 200S (RouND 2 c. 7) HEAT I (6 laps. 1·9 transfer): I.
