Daytona Bike Week
was rapidly approaching. The cover featured 1974 Daytona
Classic winner Giacomo Agostini and
defending Champion
Kenny Roberts. The
two were set to do
battle at the legendary race in a few
weeks... jimmy Ellis and Steve Stackable
were the big winners at the opening
round of the Yamaha Super Series of
Motocross in Dallas, Texas. The race
took place in a packed Texas Stadium in
front of 48,000 people... There were
some new faces atop the CMC
motocross podium at a race in Orange.
California. Robert Hannah won the 250cc
Pro-class overall after finishing fifth in the
first moto and second in the next.

opening round of the AMA National
Motocross Series at Gatorback Motocross
Park in Gainesville, Florida... Jeff Matiasevich was the top intermediate rider at the
final round of the CMC/SkoaJ Bandits
Golden State Amateur Nationals. He took
the championship in both the 125cc and
250cc classes... Terry Cunningham took
his 500AE automatic Husqvarna to the
overall victory at the second round of the
National Enduro series in Whitmire, South
Carolina.

victory at the opening round of the
National Enduro series in Coalinga, California. Randy Hawkins finished second,
while desert ace Danny Hamel was third ...
Mike Healey bested David Pingree for
the 125cc Pro-class win at round four of
the CMCNelvetouch Golden State
Nationals at Los Angeles County Raceway.
Today, Healey is teaching motocross skills
to young riders, and Pingree works as an
editor at Racer X Magazine.

Round four of the 2005 South GFI Winter
Series will be held this Sunday, March 6 at
Racetown in Adelanto, California. Due to the
weather and time restraints, this will be the
final round of the 2005 GFI South Winter
Series. GFI will award points per moto.

announced its AMA road race team for 2005,
with the squad competing as MPTRacing.com!
JC Baldwin Suzuki. Danny Eslick and jeremiah Johnson will compete on Pirelli-shod
Suzuki GSX-R6oos with both focusing on the
AMA Pro Honda Oils Supersport and
AMA Lockhart Phillips USA Formula
Xtreme classes.
The Red Bull Ride to the Hills, a back-toroots freeride challenge on natural terrain at
jackpot Ranch (private land on the central
coast of California), will be held in March. The
invite-only event will pit top freeriders against
one another over two days. The riders will
judge themselves by watching video of each
rider's two runs over six lones. The tentative
list of riders scheduled to take part in the
event are as follows: Doug Parsons, Dustin
Miller, Ronnie Renner, Mike Jones, Dan Pastor,
jesse Olson, Travis Pastrana, Drake McElroy,
Mike Mason, Beau Bamburg and Carey Hart.
The event will also feature a simultaneous
Photocross Challenge contest with the industry's top FMXlmotocross photographers. For

will air on NBC's jeep World of Adventure

Nearly 500 powersports movers and shakers
were treated to breakfast and some of the
best bench racing stories ever at the BlueRibbon Coalition's seventh annual Breakfast of
Champions on Sunday morning, February
20, at the Indianapolis Powersports Expo.

was the theme for this year's event. Motorcycling legends Malcolm Smith, Mert Lawwill,
Bob Hannah, Scott Summers, Drew Smith,
Dick Burleson, Scot Harden, Jeff Fredette,
jimmy Lewis, Mike Kidd, john Penton, Mike
Bell, Dane Leimbach, Don Emde and Guy
Cooper participated in the program. Our
champions joined attendees at their breakfast tables and stayed alter the program to

Two new racing contingency programs have
been announced by Ducati North
America: the Professional Program and
the Club Program. Together, these programs provide $871,000 for racers on Ducati
motorcycles. The Professional Program is
geared toward anyone racing a Ducati 999R
or 749R in the AMA Superbike or AMA Formula Extreme series. (The factory team of
Neil Hodgson and Eric Bostrom is excluded).
This program has $450,000 in posted prize
money. The second program, called the
Ducati Dealer Racing Rewards, is focused on
club-level racing and includes cash and prod-
