GFI Racing Winter Series South Round 3: Los Angeles County Raceway PHOTO BY GREG ROBERTSON A Six-Pack for Villopoto By GREG ROBERTSON PALMDALE, CA, JAN. 23 Vawasaki Team Green/Thousand Oaks l'Kawasaki/Pro Circuit-backed Ryan VilIopoto paid a visit to Los Angeles County Raceway and walked away with six convincing moto wins, in the 12Scc Intermediate, 2S0cc Intermediate and Four-Stroke Open classes, at round three of the GFI Racing/Goat Eyewear/Swift Dodge/FMF-backed Winter Series South. Villopoto started things off with a decisive runaway victory in the opening 12Scc Intermediate moto. Jared Partridge gated in second place but was qUickly overtaken by Drew Gosselaar and Tye Hames. Gosselaar ended up finishing second, with Partridge pressuring him during the second half of the moto. Villopoto repeated his disappearing act in the second mota, as Partridge turned a good start into a second-place finish for second overall. Hames rounded out the top three with 5-3 rides, followed by Tanner Langham (4-6) and Chappy Fiene (7-4). Anthony Charette held off Villopoto for slightly over a lap on the J.B. Memorial Track before Villopoto motored away for the FourStroke Open-class win. Charette easily finished in the runner-up position, ahead of Anthony Hart and Brian Bebeck. Villopoto spanked the field in moto two, with Hart going 3-2 for second, over Jonathan Robison (5-3). The 250cc Intermediate racing was more of the same, as Villopoto not only destroyed his competition but managed to work his way up into the top five of the adjoined 2S0cc Pro class in both motos from his second-gate start. Wallace led the first half of the first 12Scc Pro moto before Weigand made the pass for the win. Tetsuya Mizoguchi and Wallace battled it out over second place, with Mizoguchi coming out on top. Nihan was quickest out of the gate in moto two, but Weigand dropped him back to second at the midway point.
