Dowd, few top-level motocrossers have
had to come from further within the
ranks of obscurity to achieve stardom
than Team Yamaha's Heath Voss. And
there are motocross fans who would debate the
26-year-old reigning THQ World Supercross
Champion's star status.
Voss says that he can respect that.
"Hey, I never won a championship at Loretta
Lynn's," Voss says. "There's nothing special about me."
But perhaps nothing could be further from the truth.

motocross mountain, ¥oss is a true blue-collar rider. No
flash, just sincerity. He comes off as someone who
wouldn't trade all the hard work that he has put in to
get where he is just for a quick, fleeting shot at the top.
He just might be a dirt tracker trapped in the body of a
motocrosser.
"If anything, I'm an example that anyone can do this
if they work hard at it," Voss says.
And Voss has worked hard, maybe harder than any
of his competition. He certainly started a lot later than
most of them do. Voss didn't ride in his first motocross
race until he was 13, but once he got going, he never
stopped, and by the time that he reached the AMA
Supercross stage. his effort at playing catch-up had
kicked into overdrive.
"When I first started riding these supercross races,
Team Yamaha's Heath Vass shows off his FIM gold
medal and THQ World Supercross GP Championship
ring. As a member of Team Yamaha, Voss has
worked hard to represent the title well.
