Friday night's race was marred by a crash that resulted in a seasonending injury for Shogun Factory Yamaha/Motion Cyclesports' Josh Demuth. Demuth came up short on a quad jump, breaking both wrists in the process. Both arms were set and cast at Mercy hospital in Oklahoma City that night, and josh returned to watch Saturday'S program from the stands. "I broke two bones in my right wrist and one in my left," Demuth said on Saturday. "I should be a month-and-a-half with the casts on and a couple of weeks after that before I get back to riding again. We were gonna run the Supercrosses after the Arenacross series was over, but that's kind of shot now. But there has been some talk about running the Canadian series - it's just kind of up in the air. My contract with Shogun is up this year, and hopefully I can re-sign with them. Maybe this is a little bit of a blessing. I am still healing from my leg injury, and now I can just let everything heal up and start off fresh again come March or April." size of the average course on the circuit, leaving those with supercross experience chomping at the bit. jessemen, however, couldn't repeat his dominance on Saturday, managing only a sixth after a bad start. In the 2S0cc mains, jessemen left Oklahoma with a 4-4 performance over the two nights. eN lAzy E ARENA GUTHRIE, OKLAHOMA JANUARY 21-22, 2005 (ROUND 8 OF 10) Friday 125 MAIN: I. Robbie Reynard's dad, Robert, was seen at Guthrie helping out some of the locals. Robbie, who lives in nearby Bethany, underwent knee surgery the day before the Guthrie round for an injury he aggravated at the Phoenix Supercross the week before. "Robbie is at home with his leg propped up," Reynard said. "He is working with a doctor who uses a very aggreSSive rehab program and, if he follows the plan according to the doctor's orders, should be riding again in just two months instead of usual six, and ready for the outdoor season." Suspension and motor guru Junior Jackson of Peak Performance signed on to work with the Shogun Factory Yamaha/Motion Cyclesports team for the final rounds of the series. The move paid off as team rider Chad johnson was decidedly the fastest rider of the weekend through the rough whoop section. "My mechanic junior jackson is really helping my suspension, and it's getting me through the whoops real good," johnson said. "Junior came on board for the rest of the season, and he's helping us get everything dialed in and make our bikes a little faster and our suspension work a little better." Fun Bike Center/PPG/Troy Lee Designs/Factory Connection Honda's Shane Bess, who tore ligaments in his shoulder two weeks before in Dallas, rode a couple of laps in practice at Guthrie but decided the pain was too much. "We think it is a better decision to take the weekend off and let it rest for one more weekend instead of taking a risk of injuring it further," team manager Gregg Lynk said. Darcy Lange won Saturday night's Dash For Cash race, which featured a $2400 winner-take-all purse, reportedly the largest amount in Arenacross history. The DFC purse is raised by donations from the crowd, and the large amount was due to the generosity of the local fans, who knew that half of the DFC purse would be donated to local racer Trey Owens, who was recently injured in a street bike accident.
