Spectra Oils/Elf FueI/MotoSports Outlet Pro-Am Challenge Forster livestock Pavilion Lacey Unstoppable in Salemi By CLAY LIGHT SALEM, OR, DEC. 17-18 A MA National and Supercross regular Ty "Tiger" Lacey was /"'\unstoppable at the fourth annual Spectra Oils/Elf Fuel/MotoSports Outlet Pro-Am Challenge. held at Forster Livestock Pavilion in Salem. Lacey netted a trio of Pro-class wins on each of the two nights, topping the 12Scc and 2S0cc support classes as well as the Pro-Am class. Gomez Motorsports/MSR-backed Lacey pocketed a huge chunk of money from the $3000 pur>e as he grabbed the lead at the start of the single·moto, 32·lap Pro·Am event on Friday and was never challenged. Former supercross comenders Ryan Terlecki and jason McCormick spent the entire race battling for second place, which eventually wem to Oregon's Terlecki. Washington riders McCormick and Tracy johnson finished third and fourth, respectively, followed by the top-placing Amateur rider, Travis McMackin. Lacey, who competed aboard his Honda CRF2S0 in all three classes, won both 250cc Pro matos, despite tough competition from McCormick and johnson, who made the trek from Olympia. Washington. In the end, the results were the same as in the Pro-Am and 125cc Pro classes: a Lacey runaway. While the Suzuki-mounted McCormick was impressive. he couldn't stick with Lacey, and the 22-year-old from Wolf Creek, Oregon, netted the first-place money_ McCormick (22), Johnson (3-3), Monty Ware (4-4) and Casey Daugherty (55) rounded out the top five. Saturday night was a continuation of lacey's dominance: The Honda rider won the 125" and 250cc Pro classes and then set his sight on the second Pro-Am moto, which would be combined with Friday's mota to decide the overall winner, who would pocket $750. While things went awry for Lacey in the early stages, he qUickly rebounded. Lacey took the lead at the start, but a crash on the second lap dropped him behind McCormick and Terlecki. Lacey got rolling again quickly, and by lap six he had caught McCormick. Though McCormick put up a fight for a couple of laps. Lacey outjumped him and then pulled further away with each lap_ Terlecki also reeled in McCormick, who suffered severe arm pump and dropped back to a distam third. Terlecki's pace increased with each lap, although by then Lacey's lead was far too great to overcome. Overall, Lacey swept both nights, while Terlecki (2-2). McCormick (3-3). McMackin (5-4) and Amateur rider Shane Skiles (8-5) rounded out the top five. Kawasaki rider Robby McCabe - who, like Skiles, is a juniorclass competitor - ran up front for much of Saturday's mota and NAME _ Mail 10: Circulation Dept. Cycle News.
