OJ 5 I Brad Ripple (304) leads Ryan White (716) early in the 2S0cc Pro main event before launching his RM into the wall, ending Ripple's night and leaving the daor open for White to toke the win at the SJO Productions Supercross in Grand Rapids, Michigan. disaster struck Ripple as he mistimed the whoops and went into the tight left-hander at the end of them with the gas on and his feet off the pegs. This move resulted in a flying Suzuki stuck on the wall 15 feet in the air and the end to Ripple's night. White kept a quick pace for the next five laps to take the win aboard his FCR Suspension/F&S Suzuki/Fly-backed RM. Barron rode steadily all moto, as did Greg Brooks, both profiting from Ripple's crash and Woodring's bike troubles to finish on the podium. Ashton Hayes was fast all day, winning both the SOcc Junior and SOcc Sport heat races and finals with style and grace well beyond his years. This kid has a bright future. and he should be a part of the Michigan MX Mafia for years to come. RESULTS SO (4-6) BEG: I. Riley Smith (Yam); 2. jacob Crittendon (Hon); 3. josh Alley (Yam); 't. By CLAY LIGHT SALEM, OR, OEC. 10 amaha-mounted Landon Currier delivered knockout blows to the competition in two classes at round four of the CMC Northwest Winter Arenacross Series, held at Exposition Arena in Salem, Oregon. Currier's overall wins came in the 8Scc (12-13) and Supermini classes, and he headed a small list of double class winners on the evening. Rookie Pro Pete Sannan was also impressive in his trio of wins. Although he was the lone Pro rider, Sannan was the fastest rider in the 125cc, 2S0cc and Open Pro/Intermediate contests, riding his 12Scc two-stroke and 450cc four- Y 34 stroke KTMs. Sannan had Travis McMackin to deal with en route to his first two overall wins, but McMackin couldn't maintain San nan's pace and trailed him in all four of his Before The Hill and I25cc Intermediate-class victories. KTM rider R.J. Leach has been the top performer in the 6Scc classes lately, but on this night Leach's streak came to an end. Alyas Ward ius used I-I finishes to score the overall 6Scc Open-class win, leading Leach (2-2) and Wyatt Fowler (4-3) overall. Nolan Beyer and justin Ulrich completed a top-fIVe sweep of the class by the KTM marque. Wardius joined the club of dual class winners on the night with the overall 6Scc (9-1 I) win. In FEBRUARY 2, 2005 • CYCLE NEWS the adjoined 6Scc (0-8) class, Leach posted a win, ahead of Fowler. Leach would later come back to win the 8Scc Beginner class aboard his newly acquired Suzuki. Currier, who made the trek from Brush Prairie, Washington, made short work of the Supermini class. Currier clobbered the competition in both motos. Suzuki rider Glenn Prestholt was his closest competition, some 14 seconds back. Currier was just as dominant in moto two, putting substantial ground between himself and the second-place finisher, who was again Prestholt. Nash Blaylock (3-3) netted third overall, followed by Travis Conklin (S-4) and Washington's Neal Burres, whose 7 ~S finishes netted him fifth overall. Currier's evening of domination was complete after he successfully won both 8Scc (12-13) motos. Currier gated at the head of Lhe pack in both motas and finished at the head of the field in each as well. Kawasaki rider Charlie McCarthy has been impressive of late, but he couldn't stay at Currier's pace and trailed Currier in the overall ranks in Lhe 8Scc (12-13) class, ahead of Prestholt (3-3). Blaylock bested the competition in the adjoined 8Scc (9-1 I) class, finishing ahead of Casey Sutton. RESULTS P/W (0-6): I. Chance Atkinson (KTM); 2. Jack Fowler (Cob); J. Talen Conklin (lem). Rodney Farris Memorial Indoor Short Track Series Round J: Timonium Fairgrounds Cow Palace Johnson Jams at Timonium Indoor ST Opener By BEN BREECH TIMONIUM, MD, OEC. 10 oroney's Honda-sponsored jake Johnson scored a pair of wins as the Baltimore County Trail Riders Association/Cockeysville Optimist Club hosted the opener of their 28th annual Indoor Short Track Series in the Cow Palace Building at the Timonium Fairgrounds. johnson topped one of his mentors, Tom Majeski, for the Adult SOcc win and then went wire to wire for the Open Pro win. The events are run a little differently than other local races, as there is no distinction made between A and B riders on the 125ccand-larger machines. In those classes, time trials determine starting positions for the four heats per class. From there, the riders go to two eight-rider semifinals. Also, with the exception of the two "crazies" classes (Adult SOcc and Adult IOOcc), riders are limited to one class. M This year, the SOcc classes were changed to a Beginners class (for riders who have never won a feature) and an Open class (for more experienced riders). The winner of the Beginners class would be moved to the Open class for the following race. All final winners on the night received special 4-foot trophies provided by c.T. Hoffman & Sons. After being beaten by Majeski in both the heat and semi, johnson grabbed the holeshot at the start of the Adult SOcc final from Scott Sayers, Roy Miller and Majeski. On lap three, Majeski shot into second entering the first turn. While Sayers, Miller and Ken Yoder traded third, Johnson pulled away. In the Open Pro final, Johnson again grabbed the lead, ahead of Jason Isennock, Donnie Mullen, Raun Wood and Ken Yoder. With lap times around seven seconds, one screw-up can be very costly. The tight battle for third claimed Mullen early. On lap nine, Yoder and Wood also fell in the
