AMP Super Gold Cup Octoberfest Series
Round 3: Oatfie/d Raceway

Y
amaha pilot Derek Bee put the hurt on a 24-rider field of
BOcc Beginners at round three of the AMP Super Gold Cup
Octoberfest Series at the Oatfield Raceway. With a strong 2-4
moto effort. Bee bested the rest, as the first- and second-mota
winners each had problems on the day. The Swift Dodge of
Sacramento and Folsom Lake Yamaha-sponsored event was
touch-and-go, as Saturday's practice day featured a rain·soaked
track, but with the help of lots of sun and some stiff breezes,
Sunday's conditions were absolutely perfect.
Honda-mounted Lucas Armstrong started things off with the
holeshot in moto one, with Chris Aragon and Bee in tow.
Yamaha speedster Alec Selby had troubles right from the getgo. and the result was that he needed to pass the entire pack,
as he completed the first lap in dead last. Meanwhile, up front,
Armstrong had things under control, and he led lap after lap
unchallenged en route to a convincing win. Bee got by Aragon
on the white-flag lap and checked in with second place. Aragon
held on for the third spot.
In moto two, Selby rebounded from a seventh-place firstmoto finish by getting a huge jump on the field, as Nick Willey
and Aragon followed. First-moto winner Armstrong went down
in the first turn and had his work cut out for him, as he trailed
the entire pack midway through the first lap. Meanwhile. Bee
ran within the top 10 early on and charged forward each lap,
picking off riders one by one until he settled into the fourth
spot, which is where he would finish, while Selby took a wireto-wire victory. Armstrong mustered up a well-earned 10th.
When the scores were tallied up, Bee (2-4) just edged out
Brandon Boswell, who had a solid run for the runner-up spot on
the day with a 4-3 score. Selby's 7-1 mark on the day proved
good enough for the three spot.
A pair of aces proved a winning combination for Gabe Adame,
who piloted his Yamaha to victory in the 80cc Novice ranks.
Adame ran up front off the start in both motos and never looked
back, while Drew Thomas and Dalton Jones fought over the two
spot. Taylor Domschott tried to disrupt things, but his DNF-2
finishes meant Thomas earned the bragging right for the two
spot, as his 2-3 run bested that of Jones, who finished up 3-4 on
eN
the day for third.
