Winter MX Challenge Series Round 3: Exposition Arena ull-time AMA National and Supercross regular Jason McCormick and rookie Pro Pete Sannan clashed at round three of the Promoto Promotions' Winter MX Challenge Series at Exposition Arena. In the end, it was a draw; Sannan was the overall 250cc Pro-class winner, while the Suzuki-mounted McCormick came out on top of the 12Scc Pro-class heap. With only five races under his belt as a Pro rider, Sannan came out swinging in both classes, despite having to compete against multi-time National number holder McCormick, as well as Mark Bunker, another Washington rider. Bunker was victorious in the opening 12Scc Pro moto, as the Yamaha rider narrowly edged McCormick at the finish, while Sannan placed third. "I got caught in the gate," McCormick said, "so I was way behind from the start. I worked my way past Sannan, then chased down Mark on the last lap. We almost drew even coming into the finish, but he barely had me beat." Mom cwo favored McCormick from the drop of the gate to the finish, as he was able to keep Bunker at bay to grab the overall win via 2-1 placings and take home the top payoff in the class. Bunker (1-2) finished second, while Sannan, riding a I25cc KTM two-stroke, rounded out the top three overall. San nan, this time armed with a 450cc KTM four-stroke, got the jump on the field in the first 250cc Pro mota, but Bunker squeezed past the 17-year-old early on lap one. Both riders, though, made way for McCormick's charges: McCormick took command on the third lap and was never challenged from that point on, scoring an easy win. While San nan did eventually get past Bunker to finish second, he couldn't whittle away at McCormick's lead.
