In mota two, Everett once again took the lead, though it was short-lived. Day quickly took over the point through the first whoop section and never looked back. Day was gone! The skirmish was for second, between Everett and Horrocks. After six laps of battling back and forth, Everett and Horrocks crossed the finishline double side by side. Everett scored second by a wheel! Meanwhile, Welch and Price had their own battle going until Price bobbled in the final whoop section, giving Welch fourth. Everett took the overall with a 1-2 punch. Day earned second with a 3-1 tally, over Horrocks (2-3) in third. Welch's consistent rides secured fourth, and Price took fifth. In the 2S0cc A contest, Day swept both motos going away! Loudon Motorsports/Pro Circuit/One Industries/Tag-backed Yamaha rider Welch placed second in both motos. Horrocks was third, and Cycle WorldlThor/WD-40/Pro Action/ET Cycles rider Dean Day scored fourth. Price was fifth. In the SScc (12-1 S) class, Johnny Wasco easily won moto one, over the 23-rider field. Josh McCrary was second, followed by Joel Adams in third. Perry Boswell Jr. and Patrick Dunman rounded out the top five. Mota two saw a pileup in the first turn; Wasco scored a DNF and Dunman finished 14th. Out front, Adams battled with Boswell all the way to the line, with Adams prevailing. Tyler Webber finished third, with Matthew Platteel fourth and Ryan Childs taking fifth. Adams (3-1) earned the overall. Second went to Boswell (2-3), Webber (7-3) was third, McCrary (2-9) came back from that first-turn pileup to take fourth overall, and Kyle W. Fett used consistent sixth-place finishes to score fifth on the day. The promoters at Southfork recently acquired the Virginia Motorsports Park track as well. CMA Grand Prix Madera Fairgrounds Beyond the Berms By EDDIE GRAVEUNE MADERA, CA, NOV. 28 D epending upon a racer's particular temperament, the Christmas season can be perceived as either a much-needed rejuvenation period or a stretch of several boring weekends without any big series races to attend. Fortunately, the California Motorcycle Association does some things during that period of time that usually appeal to both types. Though the next major series is scheduled to begin after New Year's, CMA offers a variety of events until then, and most of them make interesting departures from the normal motocross format. Sometimes they mix in a little TT. Sometimes the entries are free with a donated coat or can of food. The weekend after Thanksgiving, however, featured a completely new twist: GP racing. The chosen location was the Madera Fairgrounds track. To work in some GP flavor, though, the course extended beyond the normal confines and out into a grass parking area, where several flat rurns and trees would challenge the motocross regulars. A track that normally has lap times of just over a minute was riders fared well under the extreme conditions. Several even opted to run multiple classes. Topping the charts in laps raced, races won and overall speed was Madera's own Casey Hinson. Armed with a new Clawson Motorsports RMZ2S0, the Syndicate-backed rider showed that his conditioning won't be an issue at any of next year's national events. He rode two individual races (the 12Scc and 2S0cc Intermediate classes) as well as the hour-long team race. In both of the Intermediate events, Hinson moved out front quickly after the deadengine starts. His lap times were consistently several seconds faster than the closest competition and he lapped his way up to second place in each race. The rider who came closest to competing with Hinson was Kawasaki rider Dustin Pipes. Though still relatively new to the class, Pipes was impressive when compared to the rest of the field. He finished second in the 12Scc class but was kept off the 2S0cc podium by Michael Dunnagan and Kevin Wells. In what had to be a very unpopular move for the competition, Hinson and Pipes joined forces for the team race. As expected, they ran RESULTS P/W STK (4-8): I. Benjamin Hinkle (KTM); 2. Hidden Valley Motocross Track Miller, Taylor Sew Up the Wins By STEPHANIE WEST BURUSON, TN, NOV. 28 The final race of the year at Hidden Valley I Motocross Track in Burlison, Tennessee. was set to be a great event to end the year with a bang.
