Bv CIAV LIGHT WOODLAND, WA, DEC. 4 W ashington's Tony Fox was one sly com- petitor at round (our of the Northwest Vintage & Evolution Motocross Series, held at Woodland Motocross Park. Riding a 1973 Vamaha MX360 and a 1979 Honda CR2S0R, Fox won three classes overall, besting the competition in the Open Vintage, 250cc Evolution and Over 40 Evolution Expert classes. A current Expert-class TT and motocross racer, Fox has for the past several years showed he's one of the country's top Vintage motocrossers as well. On this day, Fox won five of his six motos. Only a mishap in the second Over 40 Evolution Expert moto ended Fox's run at a perfect day. In his other wins. Fox was simply unequalled; even Californian Rick Doughty couldn't catch Fox in the opening Over 40 Evolution Expert moto. While Doughty was Fox's closest competition, the Vintage Iron proprietor couldn't stick at Fox's pace and finished second. Doughty, though, had a plane to catch and skipped moto two. Former I 970s Pro Ray Crawford took advantage of Fox's misfortune in moto two to snare a moto win, but a thirdplace first-mota finish dropped Crawford to second overall. Fox didn't falter in either of his other overall wins, as he darted out in front of the fields and easily won. Husqvarna riders Bill Grubin and Steve Clark did their best to keep tabs on the fleeing Fox in the Open Vintage Expert class, but just like every other competitor found out, Fox was too sly and collected the checkered flag well ahead of his competitors. Honda rider Andrew Sullivan has been impressive thus far in the season, but Sullivan's streak came to an end as Fox dominated both motos, dropping Sullivan and Yamaha rider Leon Capps to second and third overall, respectively. Suzuki-mounted Mark Sullivan fared well for the Over 40 Expert-class win during the Vintage portion of the program, but that was about the best it got for him. Normally a threeclass competitor, Sullivan's lone win on the day came ahead of Grubin and Clark in this class. Bultaco rider Bryan Anderberg overcame poor starts in both motos to nail down an overall Intermediate-class win after splitting mota wins with Husky rider Tom Owens. The 125cc Vintage Amateur class again featured a full gate of competitors, but in the end, the outcome was the same as it's been thus far this season. Honda rider Brendan Blair had challenges in the early going from seyeral riders but found the fast way around the loamy sand track and left the competition well behind. Ed Russell gaye chase in moto two, but Blair again prevailed. Russell Muncy trailed Blair and Ed Russell in mota two and finished third overall aboard his 1974 Rickman Zundapp. Kawasaki rider Mike Harritt was impressive en route to the overall 250cc Vintage Expert- Hansen Dam British Ride A Dam Fine Silver Anniversary Bv AlAN PAULSEN Show" host and renowned comedian. This was PACOIMA, CA, NOV. 7 no laughing matter. He'd found a chip in the ay Leno hunched over his 1937 Series A Vincent, a look of consternation creasing his brow. No jokes issued forth from the "Tonight immaculate paint of his rear fender. No idolizing J fans tugged at Lena's sleeve, seeking an auto· graph. To this crowd of nearly 400 faithful class win. Harritt overcame two poor starts before overtaking Vintage MX pioneer Joe Casey in both outings. Casey's 2-2 finishes earned him second overall, followed by Andrew Sullivan (4-3) and Mark Sullivan (3-5). eN WOODLAND MOTOCROSS PARK WOODLAND, WASHINGTON RESULTS: DECEMBER 4, 2004 (ROUND 4) Vintage Tony Fqx was a triple class winner at round XR75 AM: I.
