January 3-5, 2005 AMA SUPERBIKE "I just feel so comfortable on the bikes right now, and for sure Mat Mladln and Ben Spies feel just as comfortable:' he said. "I'm having fun; that's the thing, too. It's not like I'm going out there and I'm pushing so hard I'm almost crashing in every comer. I'm just out there riding around and trying to stay relaxed, and It works. It's like golf. If you try to crush the ball, you hit it ISO yards; you take a nice easy swing, and you get close to a 300yard drive." Yet another surprise was the secondfastest Supersport rider, Michael Barnes. The veteran Floridian was thrashing about on a Pirelli-shod R-6 and proving that he can run with the best of him. Barnes was one of the few riders who had Input in the track design. Jumpman23.com's Jason Pridmore was second-fastest Superstock, despite sharing the team's long Suzuki GSX-RIOOO with teammate Steve Rapp and, to a much lesser extent, teammate Montez Stewart. Not surprisingly, Duhamel was the fastest Formula Xtreme rider and favorite to win his fifth Daytona 200 in the inaugural running of the race as an FX event. Vincent Haskovec was second on the M4 Exhaust Suzuki with Pirelli tires. eN 26 JANUARY 19, 2005 • ~ Daytona TIre Test DAYTONA INnRNA11ONA1 Sl'uDwAY RlIOLTS: JANUARY 3·5, 2005 SUI'ERBIKE LAP 11MES: I.
