to the end, with HaJe grabbing the win to earn first pick on the gate for mota two. In moto two, Hale nailed another holeshot, and it was going to be a tall order for Fernengel to run him down. Siauterbeck was also working on improving from his mota-one performance and was nipping at Fernengel's heels. Hale was not to be denied, and he rode off with another 6Scc (7-9) mota win and overall victory. Slauterbeck finished second in mota two and also overall. Fernengel was third, and McPhillips and Green completed the top five. "I really like the track today and felt good in both motos out there," Hale reported after the race, "because dad has my bike running great." Corkee Baughan and Sean McPhillips traded mota wins in 125cc C action, with Baughan taking the victory in the tie breaker to seal up the overall. When the gate fell for the first 125cc C mota, the riders roared down the front straight, with Ryan Myszak, Baughan and Sean all near the front, while the rest of the pack scrambled for position. Baughan slipped by Myszak to take the lead, but Sean had a hot hand and soon displaced Baughan to claim the win. Baughan held off a late charge from Myszak to rake second. In mota two, Baughan had the starter's count timed perfectly and led pack out of the chute and through the first lap. With a clear track ahead, Baughan clicked off a great moto to take the win and the overall with a 2-1 tally. Sean worked hard to stay with Baughan, but he ended up second, and second overall with his 12 score. Myszak was third once again. RESULTS 50 SHAFT: I. Ryan Holifield (Yam): 2. Round 5: San Jacinto MX Park Self Made It to the Top at Holeshot Finale By Doc MUlOY SPLENDORA, lX, NOV. 27 he 2004 ESE Holeshot Series wound down at San Jacinto MX Park, as 254 riders lined up on the gate, many trying to close out series overalls at the final round of this unique racing series. While prizes were handed out for the holeshot in every single moto, many riders were looking to cash in on even larger prizes by taking a class title in this five-race local series. Some of the best racing came in the 125cc Novice class, which had 23 riders at the gate. In the end, it was Highlands Kawasaki's Corey Self who held off a game Jarret Hughes and Honda pilot Tyler Schovajsa for the top podium spot. The San Jac track became incredibly difficult to navigate as the day went on, especially the rutted whoop section, which was responsible for taking several riders out of the race. In the first 125cc Novice moto, Self had to work his way through traffic to catch the frontrunning Hughes, who held his line for most of the mota before Self put his Kawasaki ahead for good. The second mota was more of the same, as K's Motorsports' Hughes did his best to keep Self at bay. In the end, Self knocked out a I-I finish for the top podium spot. Self was joined on the podium by Hughes in second and Schovajsa in third. The Minibike classes were loaded with some of the area's top riders. In the Junior Supermini class, JM Racing's Dawson "The Big Dog" Draycott edged out Brandt Medlin and Honda of Houston Racing's Vann Martin. Houston Yamaha's Rodolfo Fernandez did likewise in the Senior Supermini class aboard his Yamaha, followed by Honda rider Justin Martin in second and Suzuki pilot Kyle Gillespie in third. Beau Baldwin was the big winner in the 65cc Open class, running away with the overall over Louisiana native Dillon Dufrene and Magnolia's Andy Pizzitola. T 46 Sixteen riders lined up for the popular Schoolboy class, with H. McMillan throwing down with a game Dustin Doucet and track local Joshua Wineman. McMillan and Doucet battled often in both motos, while Wineman had problems in the first moto but came back strong in mota two, showing he had the speed to run up front with McMillan and Doucet. McMillan also took the overall in the 125cc Intermediate class, once again winning a close battle with Doucet and Wineman. John Fikaris followed closely in fourth. Fikaris also took the top podium spot in the 250cc Open class, ahead of Colt Stephens and Jeremy Ross. RESULTS P!W / JR / XR: I. Dustin Turner (KTM): 2. Aaron Vick (Yam): 3. Taylor Myers (Yam); 4.
