ECEA Youth Hare Scrambles Series Round ,,: Pine Barrens Hare Scrambles The Ripper ys. The Razorl By GLENN STEVENS CHATSWORTH, NJ, NOV. 7 The Chatsworth DRV Park is a spectacular I venue for a hare scrambles, offering a great area for spectators and several exciting and chal· lenging MX tracks. The weather was beautiful, so the riders and their crews had to concentrate on just one thing: how to go fast. After a few participants and spectators checked out the holeshot area, it was decided that the possibility of a huge "fender jam" was likely to occur. The Pine Barrens Enduro Riders employed their tractor to move a large retaining wall and some tires [0 open up just a little more space for the riders to fit through without banging bars too much. The 8Scc (12-1 S) riders were first off the line. Jimmy "The Juice" Shea made a great "slingshot" move to take the holeshot, and he went on to finish second, behind Tyler "The Tornado" Klinger who finish first in class and third overall. Darren Schoenberg came in third. The PBERs added an extra challenge for the 100cc riders by putting them on the second line, which meant they would have to pass all of the first wave of riders in order to gain the overall win. Finishing first in the 100cc class and first overall was Alex "The Ripper" Shaw. Chris "The Razor" Rizzon finished second in class and second overall. Third went to Chris "Hollywood" Curlett. Shaw and Rizzon are now tied in the race for the championship. The 8Scc (10-1 I) group was led by Frank Lettieri, followed by Matthew Gift and Zach Shepp. Kelsey "The Bruiser" Hartem again showed her domination of the 65cc (10-1 I) class with her ninth win of the year. Hartem took first place at all the events except the Marshlands Hare Scrambles, where she finished second. Miss Hartem accumulated 272 points this season. Second in points and finishing in second place again was Jeremy Prignano. Brandon Kennedy was third. The Entry-Level Women's class has become more and more popular as the season progresses. First place again went to Sally "Mustang" Ferreira, while Jackie Prignano and Marie Hartem took second and third, respectively. To compete in the Four-Stroke class, 150cc (12-15) riders came from all over the East Coast. Some riders had their XR IOOs, some had TTR 125s, and there were one or two CR ISORs. Along came little jesse "The Powerhouse" Groemm on his XR80 to take first place in the class - further proof that it isn't the power of your bike that will make you go fast, it is the skill of the rider. Groemm was followed by Dana Haney in second place and "ur Bub" Lupperger in third. RESULTS SO (4-8) Oll-INJ: I. Cole J. Schilling (Hon); 2. Tyler Szwed (KTM); 3. Ryan McAteer (Hon); 4.
