Derek Costella (186) leads the Midsi%e Pro (16 and Up) pack through the first turn at ET Motopark, site of Ari%ona's first major race for Minis. ed plenty of action-packed racing. Race teams in attendance included Red Baron Racing, Two Brothers Racing. Sana Systems and AZ Race Tech. On a cool Arizona November night. riders lined up at the gate for an old-fashioned rubber-band start, under the lights. Off the line, some of the riders had a hard time keeping the little bikes under control, and wheel-stands were not uncommon. The track layout included plenty of challenging sections to keep the racing action interesting for riders and spectators alike, including tabletops, step-ups. rhythm sections and doubles. Riders where also awarded some great prizes from the Red Baron Racing. Nonh Valley Honda, Krone Industries, I-Shock, Minis to the Max. 50s Unlimited, Trifecta, Sikk Toys, Two Brothers Racing, Sano Systems, Industrial Ride Shop, Monster Energy Drink. Southwest Supermini. Electric, Zoo York, Rotten Inc., Team Dirty Girls Sports, SuperCross the Game, and AZ Race Tech. With a $1200 purse up for grabs in the SOcc Pro XR/CRF-16 and Over class, eight riders shot off the line in moto one and headed to the first turn. David Pingree, riding for Red Baron Racing, got the holes hot and the lead. Derek Costella of Las Vegas was not far behind, and he worked his way past Pingree on the first lap to take the lead and then pulled away from the rest of the pack for the win. Pingree took second place. Costella and Pingree again battled for the lead in mota two, but Costella used his riding skills to take the lead and the overall class win. When the dust settled, three riders split the purse, with Costella in first place taking home $600, Pingree in second place taking home $400. and Kevin Harshman in third place taking home $200. Costella continued his winning streak by raking the overall win in Midsize Pro 16 and Over/lOcc and Up, though he had to battle with Jason Ellis and Jahner Faulkner. The 88cc Superstock/ 18 and Over class was won by Wes Biesen, riding for Red Baron Racing and Electric. He was followed by Brig Hendershott and Kurt Schupe. Sano Systemslf-Shock's Kyle Engle, on his Honda XR/CRFSO, took first place in Midsize Amateur 12 and Over/70cc and also first place in the XR/CRFSO Open 12 and Up class. eN RESULTS 50 PRO XR/CRF (16+): I.
