Subway Honda 's Jason Thomas had the ride of his life. He held down second
for nearly half the ra ce before slipping back to a still-respectable sixth.
first heat that he won . In the main event,
though , he didn't get the start he needed to even get the chance to run with
Carmichae l. He rou nded the first lap in
sixth and worked his way up to second by
the halfway point, but , of course. by then
Carm ichael had already checked out .
" I had a good time in Toronto last
weekend , so Canada seems to be pretty
good for me, " said Wey. who, like many,
has not yet taken delivery on the '05
CR250 yet and was aboard an '04 model
in Vancouver. "I d idn't get the best start
and didn't make the passes as qu ickly as
I would have liked, but once I got into
second I kind of rode a little bit easy. I
was just trying to ride hard and make
qu ick passes . Once I got into second. we
were getting into so many lappers, it
was kind of hard to get into a rhythm,
and I kind of made a lot of mistakes . It
seemed like we lapped some guys like
three t imes; it was tough . In a lot of the
whoops sections it was one-lined. and if
you didn't do it just right - [it was] hard
to find my rhythm."
Another rider who stepped it up in
Vancouver was Team ECC 's Damon
Huffman. Aboard a Honda CRF450 fourstroke. Huffman, who got into the main
