Corder took the lead shortly into the opening
lap and , despite a slight mechan ical problem
during the night , the team held that lead to
the finish, which more than made up for last
year's disappointing mechanical- induced DNF
while leading.
"The only problem we were raced with was
a broken header pipe," said Hart, a former
natio nally ranked motocross Pro . "Rick had to
ride a portion or a lap with the mangled header
and then pitted to correct the problem. Luckily,
we kept the lead through it all, all the way to
the finish on Sunday morning.
"It was all about survival," Hart added. "You
have to be able to keep the bike running for 24
hours , and that's not always easy. The best part
of the race was the traction. Most of the course
was great tractabil ity : it got really rough
[to ward the end of the race ), though."
The w inning Open Expert-class team was
Team Spede # I, which finished second overall.
