Ducati Restructures Ducati Motor Ho lding S.p.A. announced last week that its board of directors has opted to sell the Ducati Corse brand from Ducat i Motor Holdi ng to Duc at i Corse S.r.i. , Additonally, the Ducat i Co rse boar d of directors de cided to purchas e the Ducati Corse brand . The transa ction will take place by the e nd of the year, acco rding to Ducati. The main reaso n for the transaction is to rationaJize management of the "Ducati" and "Ducati Co rse" brands, allowing each brand to be developed eco nomically as separate entities. Ducati Corse S.r.i., fullyown ed by Duc ati Motor Holding S.pA (99 percent directly and I percent indirectly), is fo cused on the organization and management of the MotoGP and Superbike racing team s, th e developm ent and const ruction of racing bikes, as well as all related promotional activities which aim to increase the company's prese nce on th e inte rna tio nal circ uits and enh ance its brand image. The Ducati Corse Brand has been valued at Euro 23 millio n ($30.8 million and has been calculated on a discounted ) cash now of Ducat i Co rse 's brand roya lties, related to the use of the brand by licensees and sponsors, accordin g to Ducati. The valuation was based on an independent appraisal commiss ioned by Ducati Motor Ho lding.
