EnduroCross a Hit EnduroCross a Hit III I just wanted to drop a line about the EnduroCross in Las Vegas. I want to thank everybody involved in putt ing on the event for providing a great evening of entertainment. It was one of the most unusual things I have seen in a w hile. I would also like to give credit to the riders for giving 100 percent for the whole event, even when it was clear that they were exhausted . The racing was close and co nstant, and you could tellthat the riders gave it their all - thanks guys. I will attend next year, know ing that if next year's eve nt is half the event it was this year, we are all in for a great time . Brandon Waters via the Internet I am new to motorcycling and fell in love with it after a friend took me to a cou ple of supercross races , but I have to tell you that what I just saw in Las Vegas was the most exciting fo rm of mot orcycle racing I have seen in my life. The track was amazing and full of rocks , boulde rs and a rea l wa ter section. There is no way I cou ld begin to ride that stuff - not yet at least but the riders were unrea l jumping the obstacles and passing each othe r. Plus, t here were a lot of European riders , so the race had a real inte rnational feel to it. This race reallypumped me up to start riding mo re often . Thanks to the folks that put it on . Will there be more? Count me in for sure EnduroCross a Hit II Wow, more Endurocross , please! That just has to be the most spectacular event I have eve r been to . Finally someo ne has figured out a way to showcase off-road racing. Usually I go to races, have a couple of beers and talk to my buddie s, but this time I never left my seat - except to stand and yell with everyone else ! Endurocross was the most exciting racing that I have ever seen. Please, please do more than one race a year. I really think the Rose Bowl in Pasade na would be the perfect ve nue. Co ngrats on such a great concept. When do the tickets go on sale for the next o ne? Terry Gagnan Pasadena, CA next time . Ara As/a nian via t he Intern et EnduroCross a Hit IV Oh my God! I just got back from the greatest spectacle I have ever seen in motorsports! The term "EnduroCross" will now be laser etched into any racing enthusiasts' vocabulary. In all the 35 years I have attended motorcycl e even ts, the EnduroCross has to qualify as the most re fre shing form of motorcycle e nterta inment ever. With riders from over 10 countries competing on an unbelievable conglomeration of tenuous obstacles, it was truly an event of international proportions. Now that we've been exposed, let's lobby the creators for a 12-race World Championship series. Man, what a breath of fresh air. Steven Gord on Somis, CA EnduroCross a Hit V We just got home from Las Vegas and had to write to tell yo u how incredible the End ur o cro ss event wa s at the Orl eans Are na. My husband and I have been to a lot of races including most of the Anaheim Supercrosses and the U.S. Op e n, but this has to be the most exc iting motorcycle eve nt we have ever seen. Non stop race action! There was more passing at this race than all the super cross races we have ever been to com bined . There was never a boring moment - the water trap, the rock mountain and the tire mound were incredible to watch the riders race ove r. Hats off to the promoters. When do we get to see one in Southern California? Be tte r yet - what about a ser ies? Linda and Brad M ears via the Internet Lappers I enjoyed Gary Scott 's pers pective on lapped riders (Voices, Issue #4B, Decembe r B) and understand where the Bostro m bro thers are coming fro m. The re are no easy so lutions to this problem , so I say let them race - and use the ru les to contr ol any rider who do es something dangerous. O r limit the amou nt of money the facto ries can spend . Bring back the claiming rule, and then let them spend as much as they want. (y'/ay back when, maybe Scott remembers this, Triumph came close to paying dearly as a result of a claimed bike that www.cyclenews.com had very expensive and illegal parts in it.) O r require each factory team to provide an identical bike to the ones its riders are racing, and at each race put all the privateers' names in a hat and pick a rider for that race to ride it. Then we'll see how much bette r the factory-sponsored riders are from the privateers that have no money! To help with co nsistency, eac h privateer could declare at the start of the season which factory bike they wo uld like to have an o pportunity to have their name dr awn for: this would kee p a Suzuki privateer from having to cope with the differences between the bike they norma llywill be riding and the facto ry job they get for a race. It also would maybe push some of the privateers to ride some thing ot her than a Suzuki GSX-R. Pe rhaps at one race event per season, each factory-sp onsored rider and his support crew should be requ ired to let a privateer use their motorhome and support truck, and then the factory racer wou ld get to sleep in the back of a van! Let the games begin. Bill Murphy Santa Clara, CA This is probably a good time to remind everyone that readers' opinions do nat necessarily represent the opinions of Cycle News and/or its staff... Editor McGrath To Peoria? I recently rea d the inte rview with Je re my McGrath - what a coo l guy. It so unds to me like he is always looking for something new and challenging. Who co uld blame him? Up until Ricky Carm ichael, he'd do ne it all . I think it's cool that he' s trying Supermoto and different stuff. I think it wou ld be cool for him to try the greatest race in the Midwest this summer - the Peoria n . I think it wo uld be a great challenge for him. He would also get a chance to compete with some of the champions of our sport. I remember back when Steve Wise gave it a shot and actually did well. He got on the pod ium. which wasn't bad for a motocrosser to do back in those days. Come on , Jeremy, give it a shot . What do you have to lose?
