In the beginning, the fledgling race was sponsored by Stunts Unlimited and the United Stuntwomen's Association. By the second year, though, Alexander and Roberts had attrac ted attention from Troy Lee Designs. From then on out the event has cont inued to grow. And just like Hopetown and the Westlake Grand Prix Scrambles, A Day in the Dirt usuallysells out entries as soon as they 're available. As far as the course goes , Alexander and Roberts try to incorporate a little of everyth ing into it. There's some asphalt, fast roads and big jumps, but it' s the perfect berms that get everyone so fired up, For most , the yearly trad ition is more about having than winning. It's just another way to relax with friends and family during the ThanksgiVing holiday, and many of those are people you've probably heard of: Jeff Ward, Shawn Palmer, jeff Emig, Erik Kehoe, Mike Kiedrowski, jeff Matiasevich and Ron Lechien were just some of motocross heroes that came out for th is year's event. Qu ite a few other people who have made names for themselves outside the motorcycle-racing industry came out as well, such as downhill mounta in biker Brian Lopes, jet Ski racer Victor Sheldon and "NYPD Blue" acto r Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
