The re have bee n rumors floating aro und
about James Ste wa rt lately, one of which
is that he is struggling a little with an
injured wrist . Still, the Kawasaki rider is
busy preparing for the opening round of
the AMASupercross Series, and the wrist
in question is said to be mo re of a nuisance
than anything.
Tyle r Eva ns had a few problems early in
the weekend. He came to Toronto with
one bike, and it blew up in the first practice session . The piston reportedly broke
and trashed the cylinder. When it
appeared that Evans' weekend was going
to be over almost as soon as it began, John
Dowd came to the rescue and let Evans
use the motor parts from his spare bike to
rebuild the broken Suzuki.
Ricky Carmichael was we aring a new fox
helmet called the V3 Pilot. The helmet
not only looked different but is pretty
much all new.
Last year. there were a lot o f issues about
ro ugh riding, so the AMAannounced that
it was going to be enforcing the rules and
quick to hand out fines. The first two
THQ World Supercross rounds, however,
are not sanctioned by the AMAbut are
instead sanctioned by the Canadian
Motocross Association. Still, it appeared
that riders too k heed to the AMA's warn ing and very little, if any, pushing and shoving on the tra ck was w itnessed in Toro nto .
Travis Pas t rana will be riding at the first
Anaheim rou nd, even though he is still
healing from a bro ken wrist and will be
sporting a cast by the time Anaheim I
comes around. He's having a cast specially
made that will be molded to the grip so he
can ride . In a few weeks , Pastrana will
have the pins and screws removed from
the wrist.
The Yamah a of Troy will have a new look
for 2005. The team will be fitted with Fly
gear and M2R helmets . Last year, the riders wore Thor equipment.
After losing his factory Suzuki ride, Sean
Ha mbl in made his first appearance
aboard his new Kawasaki KX250 in
Toronto. The forme r Suzuki rider started
his own team for 2005 with support fro m
Monster Ene rgy Drink, Alloy gear and
Pro Circuit.
