PRODUCTIONS Thundercross Series Final Round: Bremen Race Park AMA Woods Wins Final Thundercross By BILLY ATKINSON BREMEN, GA, OCT. 31 B reme n Race Park, in conjunct ion with M axxis and Red Bull, hos ted the final rou nd of th e AMA Th undercross Series . A total overhau l o f the Bremen facility was completed in time for the best racing of the season: Mor e than 20 acres were cleared, and the new trac k made for lap times over two minutes for the Pros . The super ne w layout was a m ix of tight supercro ss and w ide -open ou td oo r moto cross. Co nditions everywhere were loamy, due to proper preparat ion and unlimit ed sawdust . Bremen now has perhaps the bes t facility in Geo rgia. When t he Pros show up fo r a race , the atmosp he re change s. Th e excitement level go es up as pr acti ce pro gress es and the fast guys ch ec k o ut the track and do th ings on the track that are not th ought pos sible. Wa tch ing a Pro such as Matt Walker, o n a smaller bike than the oth er ride rs, double into the t riple and single out to the ne xt corner to ma tch the speed of t he la rg e r fou r- st ro kes is s impl y awesome. Th e first mot o le ft the gate after their sighting lap, and local rider Dash Lyle, on his RHS Ho nda, took th e lea d, ahead o f Jo shua Wood s, on his Red Bull KTM, and Yamaha rider Jaco b Saylor. Woods qu ickly took the lea d and let eve ryone know there was a new sheriff in town. Saylor also had his Y amaha's thrott le pinned en route to t he r u nne r-u p spo t . After a m id pac k st ar t , Dash Lyle (2 75 ) grabs the haleshot. W alke r had his Pro Circui t Kawasa ki 25 0F screaming as he moved up to th ird , setting th e finishing order. T he se co nd- mo te st art we nt the same, w ith Lyle leading for the a good portion of the first lap . O nce again, Woo ds took over and pu lled away with no pro blem . Moving thro ugh t he pack aft er another sma ll-m otor start , Walker had seco nd place in hand . Saylo r hung tough fo r t hird ove rall w ith a gre at ri d e. Charbonneau finished ahead of Lyle for fourth. Woods t ook the AMA T hu nd e r c ro ss Champions hip on this weeke nd. Saylor finished se co nd in th e po ints but e arn e d ev eryon e 's respect by neve r giving up and making str ong co m e backs d u ring his motes. Ch ar bon ne au was the st ea diest rider, and w as always the re at the end, an d tha t gave him th ird overall in the se ri e s . Th e r a cing was top -n o tch . an d the crowd had a gre at show. CMA Anaheim Expres s MX Series Round 5: Madera Fairgroun ds Mudder on the Anaheim Expressl By EDDIE GRAVELINE MADERA, CA, OCT. 24 n the drive out to the Madera Fairgrou nds on the day of the fifth round of the Anahe im Express Se rie s, it looked like co ndition s were going to be perlect fo r a race: overcast skies, cool te m pe ra tu res , and no rain in the fo re cast for ano ther two days. Well, all of the racers , spectators and track workers fou nd ou t first-hand just how inaccurat e the weather man can be. During practice , cond itions were perfect. It had ra ined a few days earlier, and the loam y soil was still jus t wet eno ugh to provide pe rfe ct tract ion. While th e Minis we re o ut on th e trac k, tho ugh , it started to sprinkle. But w ith faith in the forec ast , the race went on. By the time the mo tas were ru nning, it was raining. Ha rd . O
