OFF-ROAD t's not often that off-road racers get the chance to strut their stuff in front of an actual crowd, but wh en th ey finally did get that opportunity at the inaugural Maxxis EnduroCross, they certainlymade the best of it. The indoo r off-road race, the first of its kind to be held on U.S. soil, was played out inside the 6ooo-seat Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. and the estimated 4000 peop le that attended see med to enjoy every second of it. But t he one person who perhaps en joyed it t he most was longtime motocrosser/part-time off-road racer Ryan Hughes, whose name will go down in the I I~ Maxxis EnduroCross history books as the rider to win the ve fi rst indoor off-road race in America. T alone would make anyone happy, but $10,000 that he also earned for winni made the new Team ECC Honda rid r downright ecstatic. Indoor off-road racing isn't exa ne-.v., but it is in America. In Europe , tight tech nical racing has bee n held once every year in Barcelona. Spain, for the last six years, and it now plays before sellout crowds.
