A
ll good th ings must eventually come to an end . and so it
was for the Bou nty H unt er Series. A fter ru nning all over
the state of Cal ifornia since the beginning of May. the block-
buster ser ies was w rappi ng things up with a do ubleheader in
Madera. Some of the riders lo ok e d a litt le peaked as t hey
walked the freshly prepped trac k that Sunday morning . Almost
all of them had spe nt the entire prev ious day racing on a spe cially built trac k inside Made ra Speedway ne xt door. After
wa tching a grea t Pro race , they headed back to their homes (o r
motorhomes) for an abbreviated night's sleep .
With such a lo ng se ries , it' s only natural that riva lr ies
de ve lop e d in most of t he classes. Tha t was true all the way
do wn to the greenest of the 50cc riders . T he co mpetitors in
the First-Timer class had a grea t batt le to end the se ries. KTM
rider Jordan Wisnoski came out of the gate strong and was able
to w in the first moto, just ahead of Sweet Pea De La Mora and
Tony Gonzalez . O bviously looking to do the same thing in the
second race , Wisnoski was met with more resistance the next
time out, De La Mora ran toward the fro nt - as he had in most
of the series - and pulled ou t the mo to win to clinch the overall
vic tory. Go nzalez slippe d by for se co nd in t he rac e . bu t
W isnoski's 1-3 tally was goo d enough for second ove rall.
A few of the SScc classes feature d very close racing up front .
T he re we re two divisions of SScc Beginne rs, and ride rs we re
placed based on the ir positio ns in the se ries points standings. In
othe r words, the top guys fro m all of the previo us ro unds were
goi ng head to head in the first d ivision. T hou gh th e re wa s
movement in the top three in the two motes, the riders were
the same . Honda rider Nick Mue ller looked great in wha t was
act ually the first moto of the day. After ea rly skirmishes , he
rode on to take the checkered nag ahead of Jake Hjort land and
Anthony Macera. The second mo to was run under simila r
circumstances, and the race for the lead was hea ted. In the end,
Hjo rt land prevailed ove r Mueller. and he took the overall by
way of tie breaker. Macera was third again. tak ing the same spot
in the overall stand ings.
The Open (5- 1I) class was another closely contested one.
Joshua Dier cks and Joseph Reynolds tra ded wins and secondplace finishes. Be hind them. Mason Garcia and Austin McCall
swap pe d third- and fo urt h-pl ace rides . The fina l stand ings
showed Diercks (2- 1) on to p . follow ed by Reynolds ( J -2).
Garcia (4-3) and McCa ll (3-4).
